The Historic Madison Building was constructed in 1926 as a mixed-use property, with 11 retail spaces and 28 apartment units. Today, Metropolis Management, Inc. plans to redevelop the property maintaining the continuity of the mixed use concept. The redevelopment plan calls for eight retail spaces on the first floor, and 56 senior accessible apartment units on the upper seven floors. Madisonville's Primary Business District will once again thrive with the vibrancy brought on by merchants and customers within the new street level storefronts. In addition, storefronts will be placed in the rear of the building to maintain the same excitement as seen on Madison Rd. Storefronts off the Lobby will create a truly synergistic environment with the residents/customers in the apartments above. Limited short term parking for the retail customers will be provided along the south side of the building. Long term retail customers parking will be made available in the Madisonville community parking lot. The total effect, is one of an open-air mall. Customers will walk through the business district on their way to shop or eat within the new establishments located in the Madison Building. This development is designed for today and tomorrow's senior citizen. Access to these new homes will be gained through a central lobby on the south side of the building. All residents and quests will enter the building through a keyed automatic entry system. In the lobby, an elevator provides easy access to the upper floors. Each apartment will contain central heating and air-conditioning, a range, refrigerator, dishwasher, garbage disposal, carpeting or hardwood flooring, sprinkler system, emergency call button, fire detection system, and window blinds. The Universal Design Concept is being utilized in the layout of every apartment this will permit our residents to age in place with dignity and respect. The Madison Building will provide luxury housing for our seniors with life enrichment programs. These programs will provide an assortment of activities to enrich and delight our residents. The activities will include on and off site wellness programs, outings, parties and more! The goal is to help our residents maintain their dignity by creating an environment that is less burdensome so they are afforded the opportunity to enjoy life without unnecessary worries. The residents of the Madison Building will be of mixed incomes with 30% of the units renting at market rates. The lower level of the building will contain offices, conference room, the Madison Room, kitchen, restroom facilities, library, fitness center and storage facilities. These amenities will be available to all of the residents of the Madison Building. Additionally, there will be on site offices and a resident manager/maintenance person available during business hours. If an emergency does come up in the middle of the night, 24-hour emergency maintenance will be available. |
