An age old conspiracy has been uncovered by students: the last ten minutes of class are not for teaching, but rather for teachers to inflict "water torture"-like torment upon their students. For years teachers have reserved the last ten minutes of class to antagonize students with techniques like summarizing the day's lecture, giving an introduction of the next lecture, and disclosing helpful hints. These outrageous antics have, in the past, caused students to think deeper and/or comprehend the lecture better. But in an amazing discovery, some select students have uncovered their teachers' plot. Now knowing that the last ten minutes of class is for the torture of students, not for instruction, some students have decided that the correct cause of action is to repeatedly look at their watches or classroom clock, begin to pack their books into their bags, or to get up and leave the classroom when the cruel prosecution begins. Imagine the courage these students have! I must say congratulations to the few students who, in fact, uncovered this shocking practice in which teachers partake. And I've thought all these years that classes lasted the whole fifty minutes!! I am a better person now that I have been informed of the otherwise. |
