| About Her : |
| Madhuri Dixit began her career with what was a financial disaster during the 80's with "Abodh-1984" starring with some not-so-famous people and as a result, ended up trying out for a failed T.V series. She then acted in a bunch of Low-Budget movies until she signed up for Tezaab with N. Chandra. Tezaab was one of those typical star-studded cast masala movie. The movie had her playing the role of 'Mohini' a college girl who falls in love. It was a violent love story with some great songs. Her acting career skyrocketed after this movie in 1988. She managed to keep her charm alive after Tezaab. The movie that disapointed her fans and audiences was "Dayavan" a remake of a classic Kamal-Hassan Tamil movie "Naayakan" directed by Mani Ratman. The movie had an in-famous kissing scene with Vinod Khan. She swore never to act in a kissing scene again after that. Madhuri came with another blockbuster the following year with the movie "Dill" oposite Amir Khan. This movie was a blessing in disguise and put her back in the race. By this time she was a strong contender for the number one actress position in India, who was Sridevi at this time. Madhuri was getting famous for that enchanting smile and her dances had a professional touch. She even enrolled in some classical Katthak dancing classes to boost her career. The next turning point in her career was the movie "Beta" opposite Anil Kapoor in 1992. It was a remake of a Bhagyaraj movie in Tamil, and it was also around that time that Anil Kapoor was making it big acting in remade Tamil movies in Hindi. Now Madhuri became well known for the mouth-watering moments for the male members in the audience with her sensual dance numbers. The "dhak-dhak" number in that movie 'Beta' shook the mountains of Kashmir and made waves in the oceans of Cape Comorin. Her biggest blockbuster was the movie "Hum Aapke Hai Kaun" made by Rajeshri Productions in 1994 starring with Salman Khan. It broke all the records set by the Bollywood Film Industry and was the biggest money-maker the industry has ever known. Madhuri made a new fashion trend in India with the famous back-less blouse to go with her blue sari. The saga continued with her other hits like "Raja" and "Dill Toh Pagal Hai". And most recently "Devdas" in 2002 starring with Shahrukh Khan and Aishwarya Rai. Today, Madhuri resides in the USA happily married to Dr. Sri Ram Nene. And also to this day even though she does not act as a professional actress anymore minus a quick guest appearance once in a great while, she still commands the love and respect of millions of fans worldwide. |
