Compiled by Madhukar Shukla

Introduction: Alternative Perspective is an attempt to widen our awareness about issues related to business, environment, role and influence of media, geo-politics, culture, etc. It aims to share, on a regular basis, some of those pieces of news and information, which do not find place in the highly monopolised mainstream media. Please feel free to share/ forward/ distribute this newsletter to others who may be interested.

Merry Christmas and Season's Greetings to all the Alternative Perspective Subscribers
Welcome to Special, Different - and Fun - Issue of Alternative Perspective.
Just to say that there is still a lot to laugh about in this world... These perspectives merely extend the logic of present-day reality to show that there are points on which the Life and the Absurd can meet!!!
Hope that reading these will bring a smile, and perhaps even laughter, to you.

Till Next Year, Folks! - Enjoy

In This Issue:
  • EuroEnglish
In an increasingly globalised world, English has enjoyed the status of lingua franca for international communication. It has survived because of its ability to adapt to local flavours (e.g., "Hinglish"[1] in India, "Engrish"[2] in Japan, and so on). And now, to integrate with the local realities of the integrated Europe, it will have to change again.

  • Simple Solution to Terrorism
Such a simple solution to end terrorism, and nobody realised it until recently! - But now that Terry Jones has articulated this solution in the Guardian column, one hopes that this will be the end...

  • For the Global Law-Abiding Citizens
While the Net is full of sites describing the Crazy Laws in USA[3], it seems that every nation has its own quota of loony laws. It is important for all law-abiding global citizens to be fully conversant with these local legal nuances, lest they find themselves on the wrong side of the law (after all, if you are a globe-trotter, then it is safer if you know that it is illegal to flush toilets in apartment houses after 10pm in Switzerland, to drag a dead horse down Yonge Street in Toronto on a Sunday, to have sex with a porcupine in Florida, or even to die without booking a cemetery plot in Le Lavandou, France!!!... and so on).
