Guyana:
My Place of Birth
The name Guyana is an Amerindian word meaning Land of Many Waters.

In 1978, Guyana was recognized for the mass suicide and murder of more than 900 members of a religious cult on the oders of their leader, James  Warren "Jim" Jones.
The Golden Arrowhead
Green:  for the agricultural and forested nature
White:  for the rivers and water potential
Golden:  for mineral wealth
Black:  for the endurance that will sustain the forward thrust of the people
Red:  for the zeal and dynamic nature of nation building which lies before the young and the independent Guyana.
The Coat of Arms:
Banner reads: One People, One Nation, One Destiny
Amerindian head-dress symbolizing the
indigenous people of the country, two diamonds at the sides of the head-dress representing mining industry, a helment (monarchial insignia), two jaguars holding a pick axe, sugar and a stalk of rice (for the sugar and rice industries), a sheild decorated with the Nation Flower (Victoira Regia Lily), three blue wavy lines (for the waters of Guyana) and the National Bird (Canje Pheasant)
Kaieteur Falls:  one of the highest waterfalls in the world, being nearly five times as high as the Niagara Falla.  The Fall has a clear drop of 741 feet, then a further drop of 81 feet over the great rocks at the bottom.
This is my childhood house in Guyana.  It has changed quite a bit.  The tree were fuller and the house was blue.
