Taj Mahal
This most famous Mughal monument
was constructed by Emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his wife Mumtaz
Mahal, the 'lady of the Taj'. It has been described as the most
extravagant monument ever built for love. A total of 20,000 people
worked on the building from 1631 to 1653. The main architect was
Isa Khan, who came from Shiraz in Iran.

The Ellora Caves
The caves of Ellora constitute one of the
most beautiful expressions of the art of the Indian Middle Ages,
and are designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and are designated
as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Situated outside the city of Aurangabad,
400km northeast from Bombay, it was created between AD 350 and 1000
by Buddhists, Hindus and Jains who laboured to sculpt temples from
the living rock.. These breathtaking caves are remarkable for their
sculptures and architecture

Bahai Temple
Located in Kalkaji in the south of Delhi,
the Bahai Temple or the Lotus temple is a very recent architectural
marvel of the Bahai faith. It is made of marble, cement, dolomite
and sand. The temple is open to all faiths and is an ideal place
for meditation and for obtaining peace and tranquillity.

Ramanathaswamy Temple, Rameshwaram
This 12th century Ramanathaswamy temple
at Rameshwaram in Tamil Nadu, is part of a fine temple complex.
The major features of this late Dravidian architecture are the collossal
pillars which flank the three quarters of a mile long temple corridors.

Brindavan Gardens,
Mysore Designed and built in 1924, by Sir
M. Vishweswaraiah, this is India's first irrigation dam which was
later converted into a beautiful garden with colourful fountains
and ponds downstream. It is located 12 Kms north-west of Mysore
city. There is a boating pond to cross the dam from the south bank
to the north bank and at the northern edge are the dancing fountains.
The dam is over 3 Kms long and is constructed at the junction of
three rivers - Kaveri, Hemavati and Lakshmanathirtha. The Gardens
are a favourite location for the movie Moghuls.

A temple in Khajuraho
khajuraho, a quiet village in the central
state of Madhya Pradesh, is home to one of India's major attractions
- the superb temples of Indo-Aryan architecture. These temples were
built during the Chandella period, a dynasty which survived for
five centuries before falling to the onslaught of Islam. Khajuraho's
temples, almost all, date from one century-long burst of creative
genius from 950-1050 AD.

The Hawa Mahal
Built in 1799, the Hawa Mahal, or Palace
of the Winds, is one of the major landmarks of a Jaipur. This five
storey building, which looks out over the main street of the old
city, is a stunning example of Rajput artistry, with its pink semioctagonal
and delicately oneycombed sandstone windows. It was originally built
to enable ladies of the royal household, to watch the everyday life
and processions of the city. The palace was built by Maharaja Sawai
Pratap Singh, and is part of the City Palace complex
