The crew of the Esmeraldas' Triumph first caught sight of Westfall early in the morning. The entire crew was filled with a new sense of energy as the end of the journey was now in sight. The crew busied themselves with cleaning up the ship and getting readied to hit the town and celebrate the end of another mission.
Westfall was alive with movement, everyone getting ready for the Summer Festival that would start tomorrow at dawn and last an entire week. Westfall was known for its elaborate and massive Summer Festival. The entire city was draped with wreaths of brightly coloured flowers, from every balcony, across every street and around every door way flowers were everywhere. The taverns, inns, brothels, and restaurants were opening their special summer casks of wines and ales in preparations for the festival. Everything was simply beautiful. The crew walked down the main avenue which was cleared for the massive parade tomorrow, and towards Schwartzenselbe's palace on the hill. Under Sebastian's arm was the statue, safe and sound in its box, and Audrey had their statue safe in her bag. She was itching to run to the first antiques dealer and sell it. They climbed up the stairs and as they approached the large wooden doors they swung open and Schwartzenselbe came striding out. " Did you get it?" he asked like an excited child.
" Yes we did" said Sebastian, " it was a little tricky to get a hold of but nothing we couldn't handle."
" Excellent, excellent!" cheered Tobias, his fat body shaking with anticipation, " let me see it!"
Sebastian handed the box to Tobias, who immediately opened it up. A broad toothy smile crossed his lips, " Oh my" he said, his face beet red, " this is definitely worth it."
Tobias closed the box and motioned for his butlers, " Here is your payment, all 90,000 worth" he said, " and thank you for my prize."
The butler's handed Sebastian several large bags full of coins which he passed out to his crew. " Enjoy" Sebastian said, " Elsenor and I are going to find ourselves some place nice to stay. See you in a week."
The pair walked off with their money in hand, " So what are you going to do?" asked Elanna to Gabriel.
" I am going to bed" said Gabriel, " I'm going to the most expensive hotel where I will get the most expensive bed and sleep for the rest of the week, no Goblyns, Ghosts, Faeries, nothing will interrupt my sleep."
" Does sound like a bad idea" said Elanna, " but first I'm going to the spa to get pampered."
" I'm heading back to the ship" said Sam, " I have a few new recipes I want to try out and seeing that no one will be there I don't need to worry about messing up and stinking the ship up."
" I'm going to get drunk" said Tanis.
They looked around for Audrey and Alexis, " Guess they already went to sell their statue" said Gabriel.
Audrey and Alexis walked down the narrow alleyway, far from the decorations and pomp of the Summer Festival. They came to a door with a Golden Cup on it and Audrey knocked. The little hatch in the door slid open, " What do you two want?" asked a voice.
Audrey held up the statue, " We're here to sell" said Audrey.
They heard several locks release and the door slowly opened. The pair walked into the antiquities shop, " Let's see it" said the small man with the thick glasses.
Audrey gave the statue to the owner, he slowly lifted his thick glasses and looked at the piece. " Very nice" he said, " excellent workmanship, detail is excellent."
The owner scribbled down a number, " My best offer" he said.
Both Audrey and Alexis' ears began to twitch and their tails began to swish back and forth. " We'll take it" they both said.
The owner smiled, " Glad you approve, let me go back to my safe" he said.
The owner disappeared into the backroom and came back with a small pouch, " The payment is in gems" he said, " I don't think you want to carry around coins."
The pair looked into pouch and purred. " Thank you" they said.
They quickly hurried out, " Now what?" asked Alexis.
" It is time to feast Lex" said Audrey, " let's eat until we can't walk."
" To the feast sister Audrey" said Alexis, putting her arm around her sister.
Tanis floated in the pool while two tall busty women listened to his war stories. " Then I slammed my hammer into the ogre's foot making him hit the cave wall bringing two tons of rock down on him" said Tanis.
" Wow" said the blonde, " you are a real hero."
" And so well built" said the brunette running her fingers across Tanis' burly arm, " where did you get this scar?"
Tanis looked over at the long scar on his left arm, " Either it was from the massacre at Weathertop or from an angry farmer when he caught me in bed with his daughter" said Tanis, " its been awhile."
" How bout another drink?" asked the other brunette, " you look thirsty."
" For all sorts of things" said Tanis smiling.
" Good" said the blonde, " we aren't letting you go."
Tanis took the large mug of ale and drank it down. " Yum" he said, " you girls are amazing."
" We aim to please" said the first brunette.
The brunette slowly started tickling Tanis and listening to him giggle, which made all three women more attracted to Tanis.
Gabriel walked into the large suite and looked at the feather bed with pristine white sheets. He kicked his boots off and stumbled over to the bed. He fell face first into bed and promptly fell asleep.
Sam pushed open the last window on the ship and stuck her head out and gasped for breath. Her latest creation had turned out worse than expected. Sam took into another deep breath and bravely ventured back into the interior of the ship. Sam grabbed the pot from the hearth and flung it out the window into the water. Sam looked at her pot and saw that it had eaten through the bottom. Sam walked over to the recipe book and flipped to the next recipe. Hopefully it wouldn't fail.
Elanna was sitting on the balcony enjoying the crisp evening. She had spent the entire day soaking in a mineral bath before getting a long massage. Elanna felt sleep slowly coming over her and she was content to fall asleep on the balcony listening to the rippling noise of the fountain below her. Elanna heard a rustling noise behind her and she slowly and reluctantly looked over her shoulder. Serenity was standing behind her, " I'm going to put a bell on you" said Elanna, " thanks again for getting me out of the mountain though."
" Think nothing of it" said Serenity.
" So what brings you here?" asked Elanna.
" Company" said Serenity, " it is a rare occasion that I can spend any time with my kin, it is nice."
" Well then by all means please sit" said Elanna, " I have a million questions I would love to ask."
Serenity sat down, " My people live over the World's End Mountains" said Serenity, " we found a forgotten kingdom that we could settle in. There our people who survived the war remained hidden for many centuries. In the last two centuries our people agreed it was time to once again rejoin the world, so individually or in small groups we have crossed back over the World's End Mountains and begun to explore, to see how the world has changed since we left."
" Are you planning on rejoining the world soon?" asked Elanna.
" Not yet, the elders still are very cautious" said Serenity, " our numbers are still very small and our reputation still very black."
" Well your friends of mine" said Elanna.
" Thanks" said Serenity, " it is a beautiful night."
" It is" said Elanna.
Elsenor ran her hands through Sebastian's brown hair, " You're a beast" she purred, " I never knew humans had such stamina."
" I'm special" said Sebastian.
" I know" said Elsenor, " ooohhhh, I can see you're ready again."
The pair started kissing when there was a knock on the door. " You order room service?" asked Elsenor.
" Nope" said Sebastian, " probably have the wrong room."
Sebastian got up and pulled his pants on before walking over to the door. He opened it and found a young man standing holding a note. " Schwartzenseble's compliments" he said.
Sebastian took the note and closed the door, " What is it?" asked Elsenor.
He opened the letter and read aloud, " To Sebastian Martell, captain of the Esmeraldas' Triumph. I have a mission for you, my palace is running dangerous low of Summer Wine. I am willing to pay twice the price for each barrel you can get from Greenleaf if you can return in two days for the finale of the Summer Festival."
" Sounds like a challenge" said Elsenor.
" It does indeed" said Sebastian, " come on, lets get dressed we have to find the crew."
Elsenor slipped out of bed, " You're seriously going to try" said Elsenor.
Sebastian smiled, " How are you going to find them in a city with over a five million residents and probably twice that number in outsiders come for the festival?" asked Elsenor.
" I know my crew" said Sebastian, " they won't be hard to find."
To Elsenor's surprise Sebastian was able to locate every member of the crew within two hours. It took some convincing, they were all very relaxed and not too excited about hauling booze for Schwartzenselbe but after some coaxing they all agreed.
An hour later the Esmeraldas' Triumph rose into the air and began to sail south to the wine producing province of Greenleaf. The crew slowly went about their duties nursing hangovers and full stomachs but went about their duties. Another day and another mission for the crew, and they wouldn't have had it any other way.
