| This is the most popular breed, and any pet shop selling gerbils will almost certainly have Mongolian gerbils. An adult male is about 10cm (4in) and weighs 130g (4 1\2 oz); the female is a little smaller. It originated in North-east China and it natural colour is sandy brown with a paler abdomen. The fur on the feet is also lighter. There is a black line down the centre of the back and the ears and tail are tipped with black. They mate for life , and each litter contain around 4 pups/cubs | ||||||||||||
