| This North African gerbil is so called because of a short stumpy tail which is suppost to allow the animal to store fat in case of times of extreme drought and hardship. It's coat is very light with the belly fur almost being white. It is about 10cm (4in) in length, and in the wild it cover all the desert region of North Africa and as far east as Ethiopia. | ||||||||||||
