Free Concert Held Saturday, the 1st of October, 2005: 2:30 p.m. at Palmdale's McAdam Park

Madeline Felkins' *Fiddlefest with Deanna France will perform at McAdam Park, located at 30th Street East between Palmdale Blvd. and Avenue R, beginning 2:30 p.m. until dusk, Saturday, the 1st of October.

This Concert is an affirmation of global harmony which is dedicated to valley violinist, mandolinist, and journalist Daniel Pearl, who was tragically kidnapped, murdered, and beheaded by terrorists while he was researching and investigating shoe bomber connections in Pakistan during 2002.

Danny Pearl was well known and much liked amongst musicians and music teachers within the San Fernando Valley and Southern California areas: He carried an instrument with him where ever he went and enjoyed meeting others due to his ability to create good friendships with many other musicians whom he met and played music with during his travels and work as a journalist. Daniel's legacy includes unique means of communication, journalism, music, and cross-cultural understanding. More information is available by visiting the Pearl Foundation's website at http://www.Danielpearl.org and by attending one of the Fourth Annual Harmony for Humanity Concerts performed in his honor this year.

Scots and Celtic Jigs, Hornpipes, Reels, and More will be performed at this concert.

Baroque, Classical, Celtic, Welsh, Mariachi, and Native American Music will also be Performed as a Tribute to My Late Father and his October 6th Birthday. Noah Vernon Felkins was a Son of the American Revolution, California Musician and Artist, and a World War II Veteran: The Legacy of Music Lasts Forever.

*I always include historical 'Tin Pan Alley' tunes as a tribute to my maternal grandmother, Clara Bragg Higgins, (O'Higgins), whom lived with our family while we were children.
My grandmother was born in Los Angeles in 1895, right at the turn of the century, but her father, Dr. Benjamin Bragg , was born during 1819, and was a fiddler, so my grandmother had a very rich musical heritage and memory which included popular songs well known prior to The Civil War, as well as a great love of 'Tin Pan Alley' tunes, 'hot jazz' and 'pop' music of the 1920's, 30's, and both World Wars as she served active duty with the United States Army as a medic.
As a child I learned many songs from her as well as lyrics and music to songs which she played on her green acoustic piano in the living room. I had no idea the songs were 'old' and was surprised that my classmates and childhood friends were not familiar with them. However, I still remember her banging them out and singing in her bird-like voice and so I always include some of her songs during the concerts as they are great fun and some are absolutely beautiful to hear.
