Not Fair
The prodigal son wasted his inheritance foolishly, buying himself a good time and even some friends. When the money ran out, so did his “friends”. When reality smacked him in the face, he found himself in the pig sty feeling like, “It’s just not fair.”
Joseph was sold into slavery by his own brothers, but becomes in charge of a prominent household. One little problem, the wife wants him for more than taking care of the house. He states, it's not part of his job description, but she rewrite his job description so he flees with his life but nothing to cover it. His reward is jail. Joseph could have cried out "it's not fair" a number of times in his life. Joseph continued to have faith in God and make the best of what he had. His stripped prison suit becomes a royal robe and God is glorified. Yes, life is not always fair but God is with us and he is the one we are here to glorify.
After hours of hunting in the heat of the day and hours of cooking over the heat of an open stove, Esau found he was to late for his father's blessing.
After years of putting up with their whining and rebellion in the desert, having to go to the Father for them time after time, Moses found he would not be able to enter the promise land.
Yes, I agree, life is not always fair. God created a perfect garden to allow Adam and Eve to live in. They walked and talked with Him in this garden and were supplied with all they needed. They thanked Him by disobeying him and bringing sin into their lives.
He showed the world his great power through the plagues of Egypt, the parting of the Red Sea and leading his people to freedom. They thanked Him by building a golden calf to take his place.
He sent Jesus, His only Son to shed some light on the darkness of this world. We killed him. He allowed him to be sacrificed for our sins, that we may be set free. We continue to live for ourselves and to sin. We deserve death, he gave us life. Yes, life is not fair - praise God.
