In His Hands

Joseph shared similarities with other young men his age. From a large family of 12 brothers where squabbles happened daily. Younger brothers are looked on as pests and older ones as know-it-alls. Joseph, being born of Rebecca, enjoyed the status as his father's favorite. His brothers tended the herds, while Joseph kept his father Isaac company and so his relationship with his brothers suffered. Maybe Joseph failed to see a brotherly bond or figured favored status with Father meant a similar relationship with brothers. But the colorful coat, symbol of Isaac's favor, and his proclaimed dreams of their submission to him strained an already fragile relationship. These unresolved jealousies would take Joseph from a loving home to the roller coaster ride of his life. Through a proclamation of their own, the brothers turned Joseph's visit into a one way trip to Egypt. Reading about Joseph in the 39th chapter of Genesis, we find Joseph unfairly treated. Yet, how far could Joseph see ahead in his life? Could he see how God would get him through each storm? Can we see ahead in our lives and how God will work through our storms? We don't know what's ahead, but the Father does. We don't know what is best for us (although we like to think we do), but the Father does. We don't know how He is going to work in our lives so let's just let Him work. He has the power, He has the foreknowledge, and most of all He loves us

You know the rest of the story of Joseph. God used him to save a nation and open the opportunity of Israel to become a nation. What will we allow Him to do in our lives, as His servants?
