Perfect Child
When Jesus came into my life
I wanted to be each day,
A perfect child before him
In each and every way.
I woke up every morning
Determined to Him to prove,
That I could life for Him
In a way that He'd approve.
But I found His way was hard
And guilt entered my life,
Hitting a wall of doubt
My heart was filled with strife.
I shook it off and said again
I'll show God that I can,
Be the perfect child He wants
And off again I ran.
But again I stumbled and fell
Tripped by the deceitfulness of sin,
Then God looked down and whispered
Without me you'll never win.
He made me see that I just can't
Make it on my own,
But through the love and grace he gives
I don't need to walk alone.
I now I walk not by myself
But with Him hand in hand,
Knowing He will lead me home
According to His plan.
