A Father's Stride

It seems that little children
Find it hard to walk beside
They want to know what's up ahead
Impatient with the Father's stride.
Or often want to stay behind
With distractions that catch their eyes
To take their mind off the task at hand
No matter how the Father tries.
But our Father sees the future
And what's best for the ones He loves
As our lives unfold before us
Have faith in the Father above.
Remember in every step we take
Our heavenly Father knows best,
Asking each to follow his lead
Will our faith in Him pass the test?
As we follow life's path as His children
Will we walk hand in hand beside
No distractions or seeking our own path
But walk patiently in the Father's stride?
