1870 ~ 1882
When he was two years old, his father moved the family to Hamilton Co., IL. He grew up there helping on his father's farms. But when he was just 12 years old, something terrible happened. Was it a disease? An accident? An on-going physical problem? William died.
He was buried in Preston Cemetery just down the road from the homestead. Five years later, his sister Emma died. On one side of the tombstone is his identification, and on the other side is hers. Later their father and mother would be buried there.
