I am afraid I will be somewhat disappointing. I am 60 years old, was born in Campbell County, KY, as was my father and grandfather. I have never heard any of my folks mention any of those named you mentioned. My mother was a Grant, explains my having that name.
Our family was from Wales, how far back I do not know. The oldest records I have go back to the late 1700s. NOTLEY MADDOX (then spelled MADDOCHE) lived in Mason County KY. He owned some land in Clinton County Missouri (evidently never lived there). He also owned land in Campbell County, KY, which he left to one of his sons, HEZEKIAH Maddox (my great-grandfather). He added to it (I have several deeds to prove it) during the early 1800s. His son CHARLES heired or bought at least some of it, and his son FRANK (my father) bought out the heirs after his father's death in 1904.
I know nothing of the other branches of the family, other than my father's brothers and sisters and part of their families.
I have letters, deeds and inventory of NOTLY MADDOX'S estate on his death in 1807. [This is a mis-read of 1801.] Also have the family Bible (printed in 1847) in which entries were made back to 1738. Have a letter from W. W. Southgate (Congressman from the district in 1838) in answer to a letter from HEZEKIAH MADDOX (my great-grandfather) relative to Kin in Maryland. He mentions a Notly Maddox living near Washington and SAMUEL MADDOX lilving at Chaptico, Maryland. Also John and his son WILLIAM of Leonesdtown. I was the only child, have 3 sons and three grand daughters. What happens to the Maddox name? Also, very few male cousins that I know about. Should you be interested and ever in this vicinity, would be glad to see you and show the old papers.
