Madness - The Dangermen Sessions vol. 1
Having failed to trouble the scorers with their last album of original songs, 1999's Wonderful, the nutty boys bounce back with this batch of reggae covers and pop hits. Their affection for vintage is obvious. Jose Feliciano's Rain is given a moody revamp while Max Romeos Chase the Devil (sampled by the Prodigy on top ten hit out of space) is another high point . Overall it's the less familiar songs that work best, notably the galloping You'll Lose a Good Thing.
