Judging by their successful outing in Sherwood Forest the reconstituted Madness have lost none of their gusto from the 80s.
Having played a number of reunion shows over the past few years they've decided to give the fame game another shot.
They've even dropped the definitive "The Madness" that tried to distance them from their past.
Maybe taking a leaf out of UB40's book they've released an album of ska covers.
It's a hit and miss affair depending on how well you know the originals.
Thus, the marvellous Shame and Scandal and Girl Why Don't You? (by Lord Tanamo and Prince Buster respectively) work a treat because they're not mainstream.
Lola, Bob Marley's So Much Trouble and Israelites are less successful. Covering the Desmond Dekker classic, leave it out.
Thankfully it works 60/40 so it's worth the admission price. |
