"Chirp"- Like a chop or stab but you include the backwards chop as well. So you cut the fader off at the end but bring it back on again for the backwards motion. I think of it as a baby skratch with a click at either end. If you can do constant chops well then just try doubling up on the fader and you should get a chirp like sound.
(i.e. ye-.-ey-.-ye-.-ey.-ye-.-eh)
Pretty easy to do slowly and it just sounds like a clean constant baby skratch because you are taking out the swoosh sound that occurs when you move from a forwards motion to a backwards motion or vice-versa. But very hard to do quickly and cleanly for anything over a few seconds (just try it, your hand will just look like it's having a heart attack). Can sound awesome when quick and clean though (requires really tight co-ordination). |
