K ONE
After many rumors of release dates, the most anticipated battle record of the year is finally available. As most break record share the characteristics and style of       the producer, Bully Breaks' sound is exactly what you would expect from the     3x World Champ. It's a mixture of hip-hop, drum and bass, technicality, and aggressiveness. There are 3 jugglefest style on-beat sentences which combine battle dialogue and quick changes. There are 6 beats ranging from downtempo to uptempo. The beats are standard at first but Craze gradually adds in jungle basslines and other effects to diversify the composition. The final section of the record is repetitive noise section at around 160 bpms, that individually repeats drum, kick, snare, and several electronic bass sounds. Shout out to Infamous and the rest of the crew
Right now, Raida is putting out my favorite break records. Piklz got the experimental and electro records down, but Raida goes off in another direction with the funky stuff. Following the successful formula of Beats for Jugglers 3, Raida loads this record with battle dialogue (check out the yo momma section, linked beats (tracks that blend into each other), and classic hip hop sections (Biz and BDP). And Iike the cant miss skratch track on Jugglers 3 (the Jimmy McGriff loop), Raida delivers an extended skratch track begging for a skratch/juggle routine. Also included is a changing pitch tone section. If you liked Jugglers 3, youll dig this.
First of all, the Piklz take album cover art off the deep end. This is some gruesome shit straight from 8th grade sex ed class. Dont let your moms see this shit, or youre bound to get your room searched when youre not there. 4 new skratch beats, 3 of the dirty electro variety and 1 looped break. Heres an obvious trick for Piklz electro beats: kick the downtempo ones to 45 and they sound just as good, works on a couple tracks here. The Piklz have got the locked beat to a science, going past the simple boom bip to two different high hats (boom bip boom boom bip). 2 locked beats on the ends of both sides. Theres one skratch sentence and a nice boom-bip-boom break snippet section. And surprising for a Piklz record, theres 3 short juggle beat sections.
. An interesting direction for this break record as it combines the eastern Ghost Dog sound, Asian video dialogue, comedy, and subtle beat changes. Most of the beats have that eastern influenced sound, laying asian corner store sounds over drums. It works well as K One mixes it up by changing beats, dropping sounds in and out, adding dialogue and even reversing the tracks. The overall sound has a smokey laid back vibe like old men in opium dens. The skratch sentences are entertaining with an assortment of funny dialogue, Korean soap operas, and assorted
SWIFT ROCK
-Cycle Breaks-
First battle record from Vestax champ and STA member Swift Rock. The style is similar to Total Eclipse's Juggle Fest with less emphasis on skratch noises, and more emphasis on beats and beat variations. But whereas Eclipse's record had a specific east coast sound, Swift Rock's has a specific west coast sound. There are more electro elements thrown in the beat collages. Also included are 4 instrumentals: 2 electro style beats, the instrumental to Pete Rock's "Creator," and the full instrumental to Kurtis Blows' "The Breaks" which gets a second life here as a dance classics style skratch track.

DJ DINGLE BALLS
The third installment of the Battle Axe series. A series which has gained poplularity because each record has its own specific flavor (checkout the metal influenced number 2). The flavor on this one is a mish mosh of varied beats. 10 in all. Im especially feeling this beat which I cant place, but sounds like something Dibbs used ("gimmie break!"). Also checkout the Led Zeppelin / Funky Drummer blend. Once again, more proof that battle records have got the best covers in all of music (check out the drunk e-mail crotch shot on the back).
First record from the crew making noise on the left coast. The cat with the white kangol, Ngobility, unveils 7 beats and multiple sentences to break shit open. The beats are uptempo and characterized by lots of drum hits, perfect for those juggling/skratch combo routines. Skratch sentences mixed with battle dialogue... this record has got beef. We dig the cover art, especially the yearbook style collage on the back.

LOUIE FANGS
Raise your hand if you ever listened to heavy metal. Metal was cool, cause it was badass and metal chicks were hot with their feathered hair and inclination to show people their pale boobs. But there would always be some kid in the neighborhood that would get so deep into it, he'd start listening to that speed metal shit from like Norway and Scandinavia and you couldn't talk to him anymore cause he was always thinking about guitar solos in an ice cave or somethin. This record sounds like that kid turned hip-hop. Real dark beats that, if you had to compare, sounds a little like Bobby Digital's... kinda like the Black Market Snuff sound without the electro. But what sets it apart from the other dark records is the metal guitar riffs and rhythms. Wanna skratch jam with some long blonde haired Dennmarkians in an ice cave, checkout this wicked beat. 9 beats in all, not all are dark, some funky, and one long sentence consisting of an assortment of tone style sounds (guitar, freaky organ, shrills) and one long electric guitar tone. You don't have to be a metalhead to appreciate this. Like Armitron, innovators of the Awatch, say: Originality always rises to the top.
