| After installing the tensioner, it's just a matter of reversing the steps done to reach this point. Here's the timing cover replaced. The worst part of this job was actually sitting there and scraping off all of the old gasket material on the timing cover and water pump, then cleaning them with carb cleaner so that the new RTV and gasket would stick properly. | |||||||||||||
| After putting the timing chain cover back on, the oil pump was next. The gasket for the oil pump is an o-ring that was a bitch to keep in place while trying to get the pump over the drive gear on the crankshaft. The Toyota service manual said to put sealant on the upper left bolt for the oil pump. I just gobbed some black RTV on the bolt and called it good, I'm not sure what kind of sealant they were looking for here and it didn't specify. |

| Here's the water pump and oil pump reinstalled. I called it a night at this point and replaced the valve cover, oil pan and all the accessories the next day. It was a huge help to have pictures like this, as well as every bolt labelled and sorted into ziplock baggies for each stage of the job. It would have taken a lot longer for me to figure out how to reassemble this otherwise so I highly recommend it. |
