After visiting my midwife after being 10 days "past due" I went shopping at the Crossings for a few items. As of apx. 5:30 PM I had only been 1.5 Cm and apx. 40% effaced and baby was at a +1? station. I was told that I was finally making progress but I "could still have a week to go" but my midwife sensing my dread at that thought laughed and said "call me if you go into labor tonight" Anyhow, I got home about 7:15 PM and around 8:15 had intense pain and called my midwife at 8:30. She talked with me a few minutes through some contractions and decided to come right away. I was getting things ready (we were having a homebirth) when she arrived and suddenly dropped to my knees in pain. After that contraction she wanted to check me b/c she said I sounded like I wanted to push. Upon exam I was found to be 9+ cm and ready to push! She arrived at 9:30 and Jacob James Bender was born at 10:23 PM ! What a great feeling! |
