MOMMY'S AND DOCTORS NOTES
THESE ARE JUST SOME RECAPS FROM MADDIE'S TREATMENTS AND EXAMS.
Medications and chemo that Maddie is taking:
Vinblastine...6MP...Bactrim...Prednisone
January 16, 2001- Madison will not be going to Pittsburgh on the 2nd as planned for her last treatment of Vinblastine. Now she will go on the 9th to get her MRI and then we'll travel over to the clinic for her visit with Dr.Wollman.  Maybe then we'll know what is next in line for Maddie.
December 26, 2000- Maddie woke up this morning around five, she complianed of stomach pain.   About 20 minutes later she was vomiting.  I called Pittsburgh and they said that it sounded like the stomach flu.She did just that every five or ten minutes.  Around 1:30 I became really worried about dehydration, so I called the doctor again.  They wanted me to bring her to the ER.  After waiting  aboult 2 hours to be seen, Maddie was put on IV fluids and they decided to run a series of tests.  She was severely dehydrated, and she had a high fever so they decided to admit her.  By morning she felt and looked so much better, and now she was keeping the fluids down!  As she  started to become more hydrated her blood counts began to fall.  The Doctor discharged her early afternoon, we just need to go in on Friday to get her counts checked again.
December 22, 2000- Yesterday at Clinic, Dr.Wollman and I discussed further treatment on Maddie.  She will have another MRI completed in the beginning of February, this time they will put her totally under since she didn't do well under the other meds.  Right now it looks like she will recieve Radiation to the skull to see if it can totally get rid of the tumor.  At the time of her MRI she will also be seeing her ENT, Dr. Arjmond.  He needs to see where we should go with the damage that has been done to her sinus.
December 21, 2000- Today Maddie got yet another round of Vineblastine. She was upset the car ride down because we told her that Sandy, her most favorite nurse, was not going to be there again.  She was happy to beable to leave her the present that we put together for her.  Madison for the first time in time in two months got sick.  She was up pretty late because she said her tummy still hurt, hopefully tomarrow will bring a better day so we can make our Christmas Cookies.

December 1, 2000-
she had her regular visit to Pittsburgh where she recieved Vinblastine.

November 16, 2000- Maddie had her third MRI today.  She did great, but the medication really made her miserable when she woke up. (She cried and hour and a half until she finally recognized me!)

November 11, 2000- we traveled to Pittsburgh today for Madison's regular chemo treatment.  She slept from four in the afternoon until 10am the next day.  She's really getting worn out.

November 2, 2000- we had to travel to Pittsburgh today because Madison has not only been sleeping about 17 hours a day but she has been complaining that her head hurts.  Dr.Wollman had us go over to the hospital to get an x-ray.  It ended up being the chemo sitting in the area that was causing the pain.

October 20, 2000-Madison recieves her regular dose of vinblastine. She got really sick after this dose, I wish that I could do more to make her feel better.

September 29, 2000
-This is Madison's last weekly visit for vinblastine. She will now come in every three weeks.

September 22, 2000-
Another good week for Madison, chemo went good, but she did have a lot of nausea the next few days.

September 16, 2000-
Today Madison has her MRI, we just kept her port accessed from clinic the day before so we wouldn't have any other problems.  The results showed that the tumor has moved out of the sinus, yeah!

September 15, 2000-
Week four of the treatment, Madison still has low iron, but we are going to wait to do anything.  It has been low since she lost so much blood before starting chemo.  Maddie was suppose to have an MRI this morning, but the nurses in the radiology lab couldn't access her port.  It was a huge mess, she got some of the sadation medsbut they didn't know exactly how much, so we are going to hold off until tomarrow morning.

September 8, 2000-
Madison has her third round of chemo.  Again, everything is looking good!

September 1, 2000-
We travel to clinic in Pittsburgh for the first time, it's a long three hour car ride.  Everything looks good, her bloody nose finally stopped two days ago.  Dr.Wollman said that it shows that the chemo seems to be working.  Madison recieves another round of chemo

August 25, 2000-
We are introduced to Madison's Oncologist,Dr.Wollman.  He tells us the news that she has Langerhans Cell Histiocytosis.  She will be placed on a sixth month protocol that should clearup the tumor.  She gets a port-a-cath placed and then recieves her first round of chemo.  She got really sick the next day so they had us stay another night in the hospital.  For the next six months she will be on many different medications.  She recieves vinblastine through her port at every clinic visit,I give her prednisone three times daily, and in the second phase of her treatment she will be recieving oral chemo at home called 6-mp.
