Chapter 21
Just as AJ was about to deepen the kiss they were brought back to earth by the sound of AJ's cell phone ringing. They broke their kiss and AJ sighed as he rolled off of Howie to answer it. Howie immediately missed the warmth of AJ's body, and pulled the covers tighter around himself. He stared up at the ceiling, trying to calm his racing thoughts. He looked over as he felt AJ stiffen.
"What do you want Leona?" he asked, his voice tight and clipped.
Howie stiffened as he heard AJ mention that name. What did she want? Hadn't she done enough damage already?
AJ felt Howie move, and went to turn around, but Leona's voice cut him off.
[AJ, AJ are you listening to me?]
"What? Look Leona, I don't think..." AJ began, but Leona cut him off.
[Look AJ, I love you, I was wrong. I want to be with you]
"Leona..."
[AJ, I'm coming to see you. We need to talk.]
"What do you mean you're coming here?
Howie didn't know what to do. Leona was coming here to see AJ. That could only mean one thing. She wanted to get back with him. He was hit with a sudden fear as a million toughts hit him at once
'Would he go back to her? Would he reject him for her? He wouldn't would he? He wouldn't go back to her after all that had happened the previous day? Would he? He wasn't likely to, was he? But then just look at Amanda. AJ had always gone back to her no matter what. Besides, what chance did he stand against that tall, leggy brunette. She was a she, AJ wasn't gay. He'd never shown signs of liking men before. He must've just been confused before. As soon as he saw her, he'd realise how wrong he had been. Oh God, what was he going to do? AJ was going to leave him to go back to her. But then was he ever his to lose? Three kisses didn't make AJ his, no matter how much he loved him.'
Howie knew one thing, he couldn't stay here anymore, he needed to get away. He didn't want to be around to listen to those two making up, he couldn't take that. He got up and moved quickly towards the door. He opened it and left without looking back.
AJ looked up as he felt Howie move. He reached his arm out to stop him, but just missed him. He wanted to call out to him, to stop him, but half his attention was on Leona, and he didn't. So instead he watched Howie leave and shut the door behind him.
