Snow Lodge
Chapter 48
Howie had turned away from Brian when he had heard the disturbance outside, but his attention quickly returned to his bandmate when he heard the way he practically spat his wife's name.
Leighanne tensed momentarily, staring at Howie warily before continuing to approach the bed.
"Howie." Brian called him softly.
Howie turned once again to look at Brian, and was shocked to see the solemn expression on his face. His eyes were still red and blotchy, but they now looked cold, devoid of the normal loving expression that normally covered his face when he looked at his wife.
"Could you give us a minute, please?"
Howie looked back and forth between the couple before nodding slightly.
"Sure Bri. I'll be right outside if you need me." He slipped off of the bed, giving Brian's arm one last squeeze of reassurance before heading for the door. He looked at Leighanne briefly, giving her a small nod, before leaving the two alone.
As soon as Howie closed the door, Leighanne began to speak.
"Brian I came as soon as I heard. I was so worried" She began.
"Save it Leigh." Brian snapped. "I don't want to hear your fake concern for me."
"Brian, what do you mean? I love"
"No. No you don't Leigh. Don't you dare stand there and say that to me. We both know that's not true. You professed your love to the man in your bed. And that man wasn't me." Brian practically growled at Leighanne, making her take a small step backwards.
"You've found someone else, and you know what, I don't give a shit. But don't you dare stand there and lie to me."
Leighanne didn't know what to say, she hadn't known that Brian had been standing there that long the night he had found them.
"But Brian. I do love you. I swear. Simon was just a mistake, I never meant for it to happen."
"More like you never meant for me to find out." Brian replied.
"No. No Brian." She pleaded. She had never known her husband be so cold, so unfeeling to her. There was not even the smallest spark of emotion in his voice, and his eyes, that had once sparkled with his love for her, were now cold and hard as they glared at her.
"Leighanne. I want you to leave. I don't want you here, and I don't want you anywhere near me. I can't stand the sight of you. I used to love you, but you have taken that love and smashed it. There is nothing left now. So go. Go away and be with your lover. Hope that he will take you in and care for you, because I never will again. Our marriage is finished."
