Snow Lodge
Chapter 10
AJ stirred at the sound of the wind whipping through the front door. He had been having a weird dream that Brian was with him, and he was apologising to him. Something in his sleep-clouded mind pointed out that Brian actually was here with him, in this bed. AJ tightened his grip on the thing in his arms, thinking it was Brian.
He frowned when he realised that he was holding something soft, something that wasn't Brian. A loud bang finally jerked him awake, and he looked down at the pillow in his arms. It smelled like Brian. He looked over to Brian's side of the bed only to realise that Brian was gone, and that it was indeed his pillow that he was holding. AJ let go of it and sat up fully, looking for Brian.
Looking around the room, AJ could see no sign of Brian, and he shivered as a cold wind blew through the bedroom.
"What the...?" AJ asked out loud as he shivered in response. Something wasn't right. He could feel it, and it put him on alert. The banging sound came again, sounding like a door being blown by the wind. But what was a door doing open? AJ jumped up and pulled on his shoes, a bad feeling settling in the pit of his stomach. Something was very wrong. He ran out of the bedroom only to be met by the sight of snow blowing into the living room as the front door was banged against its hinges by the wind.
"Shit. Brian." AJ murmured as he bolted out of the door. He was almost blown back by the force of the wind, but he resisted it. He looked over to the two snow-drifts that had once been their cars. Neither one was now visible under the snow. 'Well, he didn't drive off, so he must be around here somewhere.' AJ thought to himself. The wind and the snow had erased any footprints that Brian might have made, so that didn't help him any either.
"Where the fuck did you go Brian?" AJ asked out loud, almost as if he expected an answer. None was forthcoming though. AJ's eyes scanned the landscape, looking for anything that might give him a clue. His eyes stopped on a fixed point in the distance, on something that he couldn't see, but he knew was there all the same. That was where Brian would go, he knew it. That decided, AJ struck out in that direction, hoping like hell that he was right.
