Snow Lodge

Chapter 4

"Hey Rok." Came the reply.

Brian closed his eyes and shook his head, sure he was seeing things. But when he re-opened them, AJ was still there.

"AJ?" Brian asked again, still confused and disorientated.

"That's my name Bri. Don't wear it out."

Brian started laughing as if AJ had just made the funniest joke in history. AJ looked at him and shook his head. Brian was beyond drunk. There was no point in trying to talk to him now, he was gonna have to wait until he sobered up a little.

"C'mon Bri, hold still, let's get you dry." AJ told him, as he grabbed a big fluffy towel and started to dry Brian off.

"You planning on helping any?" AJ asked from his position crouched on the floor.

Brian looked down and realised that he still had his boxers on. With a little help from AJ he managed to wiggle out of the wet material and drop them to the floor. AJ wrapped the towel around Brian's waist.

"Let's get you to bed." AJ said as he grabbed another towel for himself and guided Brian out of the bathroom and back towards the bedroom.

Once there, AJ helped Brian to pull on a clean pair of boxers and put him into the bed. He tucked Brian in so that only his blue eyes peered out over the blankets. Brian watched as AJ stripped off his jumper and wife beater and quickly dried himself off.

AJ could feel Brian watching him, and was glad that his jeans weren't wet as well, he didn't really want to strip off all the way in front of him. He reached over and switched off the light before turning to leave the room. Brian's voice stopped him.

"Jay Jay?" Brian whispered softly, sounding like a scared child.

AJ stopped and turned around in the doorway. It had been years since Brian had called him that and it made his heart ache.

"Yeah Bri-Bri." He answered, using his old name for Brian.

"Don't leave me." Brian begged.

AJ closed his eyes and took a deep breath, unsure of what to do. He opened his eyes and looked at Brian whose eyes were shimmering with unshed tears.

"Please." Brian whispered, his voice thick with emotion.

AJ couldn't ignore his plea, and he closed the door and went back to the bed. Brian pulled back the covers and AJ slipped off his jeans and climbed in with him. Brian immediately wrapped himself around him and buried his head in AJ's chest as he cried, finally letting all of his emotions out.

AJ held him and stroked his hair as he watched Brian cry himself to sleep. AJ listened to the wind and the snow as the blizzard raged outside, whilst thinking about Brian. He had no idea why Brian was up here, or what had gotten him so upset that he would drink so much. He couldn't remember the last time he had seen Brian drunk. He had certainly never seen him like this before and it scared him. As he drifted off to sleep himself he decided that tomorrow he was going to get some answers.
