A New Day

Chapter 7

Howie closed the conference room door behind him silently, before looking up and down the corridor for any sign of AJ. He sighed with frustration as he realised his lover was nowhere to be seen. He closed his eyes briefly to calm himself and try to think. He was almost always able to find AJ before, somehow he had always known just where he would be.

During one of the long sleepless nights when he had been coming to terms with his feelings, Howie had decided that this skill came from a combination of two factors. Firstly there was the long friendship that spanned over 10 years of their lives, which lead to a deep understanding of AJ's character, and the places he liked to go. But secondly, and to his mind, more importantly, he and AJ were soulmates, and no matter how far apart they were, they would always find their way back to each other.

Having assured himself of this, Howie opened his eyes and followed his instincts, turning left and heading down the hallway. He reached the end of the corridor, and opened the door to the men's room. He managed to get half way in before he felt a hand grab his arm and pull him into the room, and the next thing he knew, he was pinned up against the back of the door, with AJ's tongue half way down his throat. Not that he was complaining of course. He wrapped one arm around AJ's waist, and the other around his neck, pulling him closer until their whole bodies were in contact. As their throbbing erections met, Howie found himself swallowing AJ's moan. Howie smirked against AJ's lips, and AJ finally pulled back from his lover.

"I've been wanting to do that for hours." AJ told him.

"Mmm. Me too. I didn't think Kevin was ever going to call a break." Howie replied.

"I know. Man, I wish he'd talk faster, we'd have been finished ages ago."

Howie just laughed at AJ's comment, knowing that he was right.

AJ frowned a little as he realised that they didn't have much time for this break, and that Howie had taken ages to come and find him. "What kept you anyway? I thought you were as desperate to get out of there as I was?" He asked.

"I was, but Nick wanted to talk to me" Howie replied. AJ immediately looked worried, fully aware that Nick had been worried about him last night.

"Shit. What did he want?"

"To ask about you. Whether or not I'd noticed anything going on with you recently. He's worried."

AJ took off his sunglasses and rubbed his tired eyes. "Damnit. I was hoping that I'd convinced him everything was okay last night."

"You did, mostly. But he's noticed a change in you, and he's not sure if it's a good or a bad thing."

"Oh. It's a good thing alright." AJ told him, allowing a wicked grin to cross his face for a moment before wrapping his arms back around Howie's waist and nuzzling his face into Howie's neck. "What did you tell him?" He asked, the words coming out muffled against Howie's skin.

"I told him that you were dealing with some stuff, but not to worry cos I knew what it was and am helping you through it. I told him that you just needed a little time and to leave it alone for a bit."

"Did he accept it?" AJ asked.

"Yeah. He even agreed to cover us if we were late back in there." Howie told him, before grabbing AJ's face in his hands and pulling him in for another kiss.

"Good." Was all AJ had time to reply, as their mouths met in a hot and powerful kiss.
