Heat, Pain, Confusion

AJ slowly woke up to a slight commotion and felt Howie's cool hand upon his forehead "What...happened D? Did...is...he's safe right?" he asked his voice shaking with exhaustion.
Howie smiled "Welcome to the land of the living again Aje. I was worried for a bit, but you're finally awake and you missed the show" he said pointing to the smoking embers that were the remains of the spell.
"And you missed the heat wave, I mean damn when Kevin smoked that hair I think the temperature rose like 20 degrees or something" Nick added kneeling down next to him.
"Yeah, why did that happen Stormwind?" Brian asked.
Stormwind though for a moment "Well, since this is the first time I've experienced it I'd have to say that Kevin's ability or a firestarter's ability in general could be tied to his or her emotions and feelings. Do to the fact that Kevin was in such a heated emotional state of mind I believe that he used such a force of energy to destroy the spell that he heated up the air around him, thus causing the rise in temperature."
"Umm..." Brain said looking a bit lost.
"Kevin was so mad that when he fired the spell he heated up the temperature" Nick told him.
"Oh...I get it now" Brian replied.
"Where's Kev" AJ began to ask looking around. He fell silent when he's eyes fell on Kevin holding Jakara in his arms and rocking her softly, tears flowing freely from both their eyes. His eyes narrowed and he felt the stirrings of jealousy keep in his stomach. I fucking saved him and look not even a look my way to see if I'm alright. He frowned, where the fuck did that come from, he asked himself sharply.
Howie was in the process of healing AJ's headache when he was hit hard with a backlash of jealousy directed at Jakara. What the hell, he though to himself wondering why in heavens AJ would be jealous of Jakara in such a manner as him wanting Kevin to be comforting him, holding him in his arms. "Aje, are you alright?" he asked pulling his hand away "I took care of your headache" he said putting a hand on his arm to draw his attention away from Kevin and Jakara.
"Wha..." he said shaken from his stare. He looked at Howie who was staring at him curiously "I'm fine D, thanks for taking care of the pounding in my head bro" he said getting slowly to his feet and starting off towards Kevin and Jakara. His attention was distracted by the sight of a large falcon sprawled on the ground "What happened to the bird?" he asked keeling down and rolling it over gently.
Athos walked over and knelt down next "Aye that'd be poor Scree, Alanna's bondbird. This is proof enough that Feshar killed poor Alanna."
"How so?" AJ asked.
"Companions are connected to their chosen ones ya see. When companions choose their mates, and my mates I mean the humans they connect with, they tie their lifelines to them. So when a person gets killed or even dies naturally, the companion dies as well."
"So this Feshar guy, he killed Alanna and this was her bird, since Alanna is dead so the bird?" AJ concluded.
"Yes, Feshar who, by the way, is King of Ikichka, more than likely captured Alanna, used her bondbird to send the spell to Jakara and then killed Alanna after the spell was activated" Athos said picking up the bird "I shall take her to the burial yard" he said getting up and heading off away from the others.
AJ got up and continued over towards Kev and Jakara "Kev...Kevin, are you and Jakara alright?" he asked softly.
Kevin looked up "No, but we'll live, right hon?" he asked looking down at Jakara.
Jakara looked up "Yeah" she then looked over to AJ "Alex, I can't thank you enough for pulling Kevin out of that spell. You have to have an exceptional bond to be able to do that" she said smiling softly.
AJ no felt guilt, as well a jealousy bouncing around in his stomach. "I'm just glad you both are alright now. I'm gonna go lie down for a bit, I feel like I'm gonna pass out" he said turning away and walking off towards the palace.
"Alex, wait" Kevin called but AJ pretended he didn't hear him and kept walking. "Why the fuck did he do that?" Kevin pondered.
"He's probably exhausted. I'm sure he'll be fine in the morning. Now I want both of you to go take hot baths and then to bed for the rest of the day, now move!" Stormwind said nonchalantly as he extended a hand out to Kevin. He then helped Jakara up and led both of them towards the palace bathhouse.
"Bri, do you think AJ was acting, I don't know...funny?" Nick asked walking over to him.
"I don't know, with AJ its hard to tell sometimes ya know" he replied.
"Race ya to the kitchens" Nick said suddenly, taking off towards the palace.
"Hey, no fair you little punk" Brian replied taking off after Nick.
