Crest feathers and Jakara

Breeze circled the field watching AJ and Stormwind walk back to the others followed by a gryphon. 'Get feathers...feathers fun' she called screeching her warning before diving down at Silverwing's crest feathers.
"Breeze no!" AJ cried watching the hawk dive down. She pulled up an inch from his feathers. "Stop it Breeze" AJ scolded.
'Want feathers...get feathers' Breeze called circling again.
"Ssshe trrrysss to get my featherrrsss again ssshe will not like the consssequencesss" Silver said put out.
"Don't hurt her Silver, Howie would kill me" AJ said watching Breeze circling still.
Suddenly she dived down at his crest feathers again. Faster than the blink of an eye Silver's beak snapped shut and Breeze was flopping about helplessly as her tail feathers were caught in Silver's beak. 'Don't thrash about like that, you'll only get hurt' he mindspoke to the scared hawk.
'Hurts...scared...don't eat' Breeze said frantically.
"He won't hurt you Breeze, just hold still" AJ reassured Breeze gently.
They made there way over to the others with Breeze sill handing from Silver's beak. Howie, having felt Breeze's distress, was already on his way in their direction "Breeze! Baby what happened?" he asked running over to them. Silver released Breeze into Howie's arms and Howie gently cuddled the bird to his chest.
'Breeze bad...want feathers...pretty feathers...big birdcat not want me to have feathers' Breeze said shaking.
"Oh Breezybaby, are you ok?" Howie asked letting the bird get settled on his arm.
'I ok...just scared...I not hurt...you mad?' the bird asked Howie, turning so she could see Howie eye to eye.
"I'm not mad; just don't steal the gryphon's feathers anymore. He could have eaten you" Howie said softly.
'Never again...never, never, never...ever' Breeze said quickly.
"I wouldn't have hurrrt him Howie. I jussst did not want him pulling my featherrrsss out" Silver told him gently.
Howie stood still for a moment, the shock of hearing a gryphon talk, actually talk made him silent. "Oh ok. Are you AJ's companion?" he asked when he found his voice again.
"Yesss. Alex prrroved ssstrrrong enough to anssswerrr my call" Silver replied.
"Cool, now we're all bonded" Howie said happily.
Jakara stared at Silverwing in awe "I didn't think it was possible for gryphons to be bonded."
AJ smiled "Silver said that no one that's tried to bond has been strong enough. They can only bond to Adept strength mages."
"Ahh...I understand. So you've met Stormwind as well?" Jakara asked.
"Yes he has your highness. I found him shortly after he bonded with Silverwing" Stormwind put in.
"Why does everyone call you your highness?" Nick asked suddenly.
"Because she's the queen's daughter" Stormwind told him shortly.
"Oh" he paused "You're a princess?" he asked.
Jakara nodded "Yes and no. Yes I'm a princess but my offical title is Lady Jakara. I was heir to the throne but I fell in love and I was never suited to be a queen anyway.
"Oh I get it" Nick replied.
"Who is the lucky man?" Kevin asked.
"The lucky LADY is out on patrol right now. Her name is Alanna" Jakara replied with a wink.
"Lady, oh...I get it now" Kevin replied.
"Considering it is improper for a queen to be Shay 'a' chern and it is more than love, we are life bonded Alanna and I, and I had no desire to be queen anyway, I abdicated in favor of my brother Kristoff" Jakara told them softly.
"Shay 'a' chern?" Brian asked.
"Shay 'a' chern is a term from the old language meaning prefers a love of the same sex. The slang version is Shaych" Stormwind told them.
"Oh I see. How do your people feel about same sex partnering?" Howie asked her.
"We have no objections to them at all. We are who we are and we love who we love. The only reason it is improper for a queen or king to be sheikh is because that sort of relationship won't bear and offspring" Jakara shrugged.
"Oh, that is cool that your people are so accepting of it" Howie said discreetly looking at Athos, who caught him looking and winked, causing Howie to blush immensely.
