Saying Goodbye

Brian entered the house, Nick, Howie, and Kevin following behind. The four men came to a stop, all turning pale at the sight before them. There, lying on the floor was AJ who was bleeding, a knife sticking up from his stomach. "Alex!" Brian cried out, running over to his lover, his friends close behind.

Brian removed the knife from AJ before removing his jacket, and placing it over AJ's wound, and applying pressure on it. "Someone call for help," Kevin ordered. Nick nodded, scrambling to the kitchen to get the phone. "Howie, go get a first aid kit. Something that will stop the bleeding." Howie rushed up the stairs, trying to find the kit.

AJ was in a sitting position as Brian wrapped his arms around AJ, tears strolling down his face. "Alex…" he began. "Just hang on, alright baby? Just stay with me."

"Brian, don't worry about me," AJ replied, wincing as the pain surged through his weak body. "I'm not going to make it."

"No, Alex. You're wrong," Brian reassured grabbing AJ's hand. "You're going to make it. You just have to stay strong."

"Brian, before I die, I just want to let you know that I love you. You're the best thing in my life, my beautiful angel. I will always be in your heart," AJ replied, a weak smile on his face.

"Alex. Please don't leave me," Brian whimpered, the tears strolling down his face, holding onto AJ's bloody hand. "What am I going to do without you? Where would I go? What will I do? I need you here by my side. You're my everything." He leaned down and kissed AJ's sweaty forehead. "Please!" his voice was barely above a whisper.

The younger rebel locked his eyes with the man he loved, hating to see him sad and in such sorrow. Tears began to water from his eyes as he squeezed Brian's hand. He hate to leave Brian behind, but he knew that he wasn't going to live for long. "Brian..." he trailed off.

Nick came rushing back to where AJ and Brian were. He knelt down beside Brian. "They're on their way," Nick informed them. "How is he?"

"The blood's still flowing," Kevin replied, still trying to stop the blood. It broke Kevin and Nick's hearts to see their brothers in this state. Nick fought the tears that threatened to fall. Howie cam rushing back, a little box in his hands.

AJ's breathing became labored as he tried to breathe. This alerted all of his friends. "Alex!" Brian cried out, sobbing by now. "Please just hang on." He threw his arms around the man he loves, afraid of losing him. He held onto him like the world was coming to an end. He buried his face into AJ's shoulder, sobbing hysterically. "Alex!"

"Shh... It's okay, Brian," AJ said reassuringly once catching his breath, rubbing Brian's back, trying to calm him down. He weakly reached up, taking hold of Brian's chin so that he face to face with him. He wiped Brian's tears away with the back of his hand.

Kevin took the bandage, quickly wrapping it around AJ's stomach, causing the younger man to wince.

Brian looked down at AJ before leaning forward, capturing AJ's lips in a soft, lovingly kiss. Their tongues danced as they took in every contour. The older man reached up and ran his fingers through AJ's natural hair color as the kiss deepened.

As they pulled apart, their eyes locked once again. Brian cupped AJ's face and AJ weakly placed his hand over Brian's. He took Brian's hand, kissing it softly. AJ looked up at his boyfriend of two years, a stray tear rolling down his cheek. He gasped for breath again, the pain becoming unbearable. Looking into Brian's teary-blue eyes he said, "I love you, Brian."

"I love you, too, Alex. You're going to get through this, alright? Just keep on fighting."

AJ coughed violently then looking back up at Brian. "Brian, always remember that I'll be with you and that I love you." Those were his last words before life fell completely from him. His grip on Brian's hand loosened and fell to the floor, lying lifelessly in a puddle of his own red blood.

"No! wake up. Wake up," Brian whispered, lightly shaking AJ. He didn't get any response from the younger man. "No!" He pulled AJ's body close to him, sobbing onto AJ's shoulder. He tightly closed his eyes, hoping this would all be a dream and would be waking up in AJ's strong arms. Hesitantly, he opened his eyes, seeing AJ in front of him, lifeless. He laid AJ down on the floor, never once taking his eyes away from the man he loved.

His friends looked over at the couple, their hearts breaking. One of their closest friends and brothers was gone. The tears rolled down their cheeks. "No!" Howie cried out before falling into Nick's arms, sobbing.

Kevin looked at Brian as his younger cousin continued to mourn for his love. He placed a comforting hand on Brian's back, showing that he was there to support him. The sirens of an ambulance were heard from the outside and the paramedics shouting orders out.

Brian rested his head on AJ's chest as he tightly wrapped his arms around him. Thousands of thoughts flooded his mind as he looked back to the times where he was happy with AJ. Looking back, he remembered the times where they would sit under the sun, wrapped in each other's arms. The times where they would walk down the beach, hand in hand, watching as the sun slowly went down into the horizon. The thoughts of these memories made him sob harder and held AJ tighter. He raised his head up so he could look at AJ's face, his skin pale as the carpet below them, non-moving. Brian cupped his face in his hand, his tears being pulled by gravity, hitting AJ's lifeless hand. He stared for another moment before whispering, "I love you, Alex."
