Forever

AJ got out of the car then went to the trunk, getting some paper bags out. He closed the trunk when he took out the last bag. He carried them to the front of the porch. Once entering the house he closed the door behind him with his foot.

He set the bags down before glancing over to the clock on the wall, seeing that it was only 2:00. 'Good. That's should give me time,' AJ thought to himself. His lover was not coming for another five hours, and he wanted to surprise him. He patted his pocket, feeling for the engagement ring in his pocket. Smiling lightly, he resumed his work.

*~*~*~*~*~*~*

AJ glanced over at the clock. It was 6:45. His love would be coming in 15 minutes. Sighing, he took the matches, lighting the vanilla-scented candles he had set up around the house. He fixed the bow tie around his tuxedo before turning off the lights to the living room, dimmed the dining room as he waited for his lover.

*~*~*~*~*~*~*

Brian entered the house, seeing everything to be dark, the only light coming from vanilla-scented candles. "Baby, I'm home!" he called out. He didn't get a response and he walked to the dining room. "Alex?"

He saw the table, candles lit, food set on the table, with steam flowing up toward the ceiling, dissolving before reaching half way. Two glasses were set by the plates, with a bottle of champagne by the candles.

A pair of strong arms wrapped around his waist, causing him to jump a little, but knew that it was his boyfriend, Alex. "Welcome home baby," AJ whispered into Brian's ear, then kissing his temple.

Brian spun around in his arms, so that he could face his boyfriend of three years. Leaning forward, he captured AJ's lips in his, their tongues dancing. AJ cupped Brian's face as the kiss continued on, lovingly, tenderly.

Pulling apart, their eyes locked, blue with brown. "Were you really that bored?" Brian asked as he played with AJ's hair.

"Yes and I wanted this to be special," AJ replied, resting and forehead on Brian's. "Let's go eat before the food gets cold."

"Alright." Their fingers entwined before the couple walked into the dining room hand in hand. Once reaching the table, they seated themselves. "I can't believe that you went through all this trouble."

"I wanted to surprise you when you got home." He reached his hand across the table and Brian's did the same, their hands meeting. Brian gently squeezed AJ's hand, getting the same response from AJ. "I love you, Brian."

"I love you, too, Alex. My beautiful tattooed freak," Brian replied with a small grin on his face.

AJ chuckled softly. "My beautiful little church boy." Their eyes met again. A lot can be said through their eyes, without the use of communication.

The two men devoured their food in silence. They didn't need a conversation as long as they were together. After the two men were through with their dinner, they went to the living room, holding hands. Brian rested his head on his boyfriend's shoulder as they walked into the living room.

They sat down on the comfortable, black leather couch, still close to each other. Brian snuggled closer to AJ, his head resting on his lover's chest. AJ wrapped his arm around Brian, bringing him closer to himself. "You're so beautiful, Brian," AJ whispered to him and kissed his forehead. "And no one would ever take your place. I love you, Brian."

"I love you, too." He looked up at AJ before their lips met in a soft, sweet, tender kiss. As they pulled apart, AJ grabbed a remote, pushing a play button. A slow love song came on through the stereo. Brian smiled brightly and sat up.

AJ grabbed Brian's hand. "Dance with me?" Brian's baby-blue eyes twinkled like stars and his smile grew wider. The two men stood up, walking to the middle of the room. AJ wrapped his arms around Brian's waist as the older man wrapped his arms around his neck.

I love you.
Please say you love me too.
These three words,
They can change our lives forever
And I promise you that we would always be together
'Till the end of time.

During the second song, AJ finally managed to have enough courage to tell Brian. It was now or never. "Brian?"

"Hmm?" Was his only response.

"There's something I need to tell you."

"What's wrong, baby?" he asked, looking up at his lover. Their arms were still wrapped around each other.

"Nothing's wrong, Brian," AJ replied. He slipped away from Brian's embrace. He knelt on one knee, holding his hands in his.

"Brian, we've been together for three years and I love you. Loved you since I first laid my eyes on you. You are my everything, Rok. I would like to share what we have together." He pulled his hands away and took out a black, velvet box. Opening it, it revealed a gold ring, shining brightly as some light hit its surface.

"Brian, will you marry me?"

Brian felt the tears threatened his eyes as he looked down at the ring. He looked straight into AJ's sympathetic brown eyes, waiting for an answer.

"Yes, I will," he answered softly, tears of joy running down his cheeks. "I will." He pulled AJ up and was face to face with him. He wrapped his arms around his lover. "I love you so much, baby."

Pulling away, AJ took the ring then placing it on Brian's ring finger. A smile spread on both of their faces. Brian pulled AJ back to him, never letting him go. AJ kissed Brian's forehead softly before taking his lips in his own.

The both of them stood there, in each other's arms before they sat down on the couch once again. They sat in silence as they snuggled together with the music continuing to blare out from the speakers. AJ grabbed the remote and turned the music off. Brian rested his head against AJ's shoulder, feeling tired. The jet lag was starting to take its toll; his eyes dropped slowly before he finally fell asleep.

AJ listened to Brian's steady breathing, also watching as his chest rise and fall. That gave him the clue that his lover was asleep. AJ shifted, careful not to wake the sleeping man.

Slowly, AJ lifted the older man up, with his head rested on his shoulder.

He went up the stairs, Brian in his strong arms. Once reaching the top of the stairs, he looked down at Brian, looking like an angel. He smiled softly down at the sleeping man before placing a kiss on Brian's forehead. Brian sighed and snuggled against AJ.

AJ entered the bedroom, walking over to their king-sized bed. Carefully, he laid Brian down on the bed. Brian shifted to his side, his back facing AJ as he continued to sleep. AJ went over Brian's sleeping form, removing his shoes, shirt, and the black slacks. Then, he took the covers from underneath Brian, gently placing it on Brian's body.

He removed his own shoes before stripping down in his boxers. He hung the suit in his closet before going back to the bed, where Brian lay. Lifting up the covers, he got into bed beside his lover. Once the covers rested on him, he lied down, wrapping his arm around Brian. He bent down, giving Brian another kiss on the forehead. Brian snuggled closer to him, burying his face into AJ's bare chest.

The younger man sighed, thanking God for letting him be this happy. He was going to spend the rest of his life with the one man he loves.
