Big Things Come In Small Packages.

Part Two

Howie bent down alongside AJ. "Is she... is she alive?" asked Howie in a shaken voice. "Yeah, she's breathing. Come on lets take her to the hospital." AJ picked up Alexandria and they walked to the car.

While driving to the hospital, neither one of them said a word. But thoughts were going through their minds. Like who was this little girl? Why was she on their doorstep? So many questions to be answered, but who could they ask?

they ran inside the hospital Emergency Room, "Hi, we found a little girl outside our house. We don't know how long she has been there. Can you please help?" said Howie. A Doctor and a Nurse ran over to them and took Alexandria fromAJ. Another nurse came over to them. "You can have a seat over there and fill out these papers." "Excuse me lady, but as he said we found her outside. We know nothing about her." "Then who is going to pay for her treatment?" Howie had to hold back AJ because he knew that AJ wanted to go after the woman. "Look, we'll pay for everything okay?" said Howie. "You do know that it is going to cost a lot of money?" "Yes we do, now goodbye." Howie was never rude with people, but this woman had to go.

AJ and Howie walked over to the chairs and waited. They looked at outdated magazines. "Hey look D, a magazine from the yaer that you were born. Let's see what was going on in the world during that year." Just then they heard a scream from the examining room that they took Alexandria in. Howie and AJ looked at each other. "What the hell was that?" Then they heard another scream. The Doctor came out. "Can you guys come in, maybe you can calm her down." Howie and AJ got up and followed the Doctor into the examining room.

The Nurse was trying to take the note from Alexandria. Alexandria was screaming "No." When the door to the exam room opened she turned her head and saw AJ and Howie. She remembered that her mother had said that her father was tall and had brown eyes. That didn't help when she saw two tall men that had brown eyes and were tall. (I know Howie is small, but she's 4- everyone is tall for a 4 year old). She reaches out her hand with the note to AJ because he was the closest one to her.

"What is it sweetheart?" Alexandria didn't say a word; she did what her mother told her to do. When the Doctor and the Nurse went back to examine her she was calm. Howie and AJ left the room to read the note.

AJ read the note loud enough so Howie could hear...

Dear AJ,
I'm writing this to let you know the little girl on the step is yours. Her name is Alexandria, (guess who I named her after? I had to, she looks so much like you, especially the eyes). She is 4 years old. (Her birthday is May 24) I can't take care of her anymore and now it's your turn. Don't try to find me, she is better off with you anyway. Sorry I had to do it like this, but I need to catch a plane and you weren't home. Take good care of my little girl.
Yours Truly

Her Mother

(you didn't think I was that stupid to tell you my name).

AJ looked up at Howie. Howie knew he was waiting for him to say something, but he didn't know what to say. He was just as much in shock as AJ was. His lover, his life long partner having a daughter; this changes everything, or has it? He still loves AJ, and they did talk about having kids someday, it just happened sooner than they thought.

"D. Please say something?" "Sorry Babe, nothing's changed, okay? I still love you and we will get through this. She's our daughter." AJ let out a sigh of relief; he thought Howie was going to leave him, now he felt kind of guilty for thinking that. He was glad that Howie said that Alexandria was their daughter. Howie was okay with it, but what about the other guys? "D, you don't know how happy I am to hear you say that. I would pull you into a kiss, but we're in public." AJ leans over and gives him a hug instead. "D. You know what I'm worried about, what are the guys going to think about it? Are they going to be okay with this, like you are?" "I don't know, I don't know."
