Season Summary
This season began in 2002 and the final games were played in 2004.
After three consecutive non winning seasons, the Houston Oilers found new life, and won 6 games for a 6-2 finish, and their first official title. San Fran and Cincinatti both had solid years and both teams contended until wilting down the final stretch. Both San Fran and Cincinnati finished at 5-3.
After two consecutive heart breaking seasons(ending with playoff losses to San Fran) the Minnesota Vikings fell from glory. Minnesota only managed a 3-5 record. Oakland was horrible, but had the Denver Bronco's number. Oakland was able to win their last two games. Denver was nearly .500, but ended up losing its last three games, for a last place finish at 3-5. Denver had its first losing season ever, and missed the playoffs for the first time ever.
The season stopped after only 8 weeks, even though more games were originally planned. This left Houston (6-2) at the top.
