Kansas Fights it Way to Orange Bowl


The Jayhawks blew a 16 point lead to Syracuse in the 4th quarter, thanks in part to a fumble with a minute remaining.

Kansas led the entire game, thanks in part to a 71 yard run by #26 that seemed to seal the game. Syracuse would not die. After kicking a field goal in the beggining of the 4th quarter it appeared #1 Ranked Kansas was on their way to a win, leading by 16. However after a score and 2pt conversion by Syracuse, Kansas would grind out a couple a first downs. With a minute remaining and the game seemingly over, the Kansas running back fumbled giving Syracuse new life. A quick score of 8pts by Syracuse left Kansas with 40 seconds to score. Kansas would then drive to the Syracuse 24 yard line, setting up a 41 yd FG on the last play of the game. The ball would just squeek through the lower right of the upright, giving Kansas the win.

Kansas only needed a Tie to clinch their Conference and their Orange Bowl berth, but chose to go for the win, even though they risked turning the ball over. Kansas will finsh their season hosting Stanford & Syracuse.
