these things do happen
by jeremy cannon
Wake up, early in the morning,
go to work, things are kinda boring.
Get caught, doing something you shouldn't have done,
get fired, this leaves your head a little stunned.
Get the lecture, from the big boss' roar,
and what do I say, as I walk out the door?
And these things do happen, oh yes they do,
and you can't escape it, there's no control of you.
And these things do happen, I wish they didn't have to,
but sometime in the end, they happen, and you're black and blue.
Rumor has it, stuff is going on,
so I write about it, in a little song.
Mind your business, is your life not interesting enough?
You'll beat me up? Damn you're too tough.
And in the midst of this chaotic quote,
what do I say, as I smile and gloat?
And these things do happen, oh yes they do,
and you can't escape it, there's no control of you.
And these things do happen, I wish they didn't have to,
but sometime in the end, they happen, and you're black and blue.
So many problems, so many wrongs in this land,
So many atrocities that overflow in your hand.
So many ways to cope, so many flaws to stop,
And if you think about it, there's too many thoughts.
And these things do happen, oh yes they do,
and you can't escape it, there's no control of you.
And these things do happen, I wish they didn't have to,
but sometime in the end, they happen, and you're black and blue.
These things do happen, yep.
These things? They do happen.
Ya know them jets? Cool 'em...
Because these things do happen.
