story about the sun
by jeremy cannon

It's a funny thing about that big ol' sun,
the way it hangs with a job never done.
Warming everyone's faces, causing sweat to drip,
promoting people from land to the pool for a dip.

But deeper into it's meaning is an odd view to hold,
more complex than an escape from the cold.
There's only one, and how we never think,
with this huge orange flame is an odd link.

Think about all of the songs and poems you hear,
movies we watch and books we read clear.
Whenever the sun's name appears, we never realize,
it's one big thing noticed by everyone's eyes.

When you're tanning outside one of these days,
think of the celebrities soaking the same rays.
The sun that makes the night go away in a flash,
is the same sun that blinds and causes a crash.

So next time you take a look, and hide your face,
think of who else might be doing the same.
The sun sees all, nothing's a mystery to it,
I hope one day it meets the moon, for a duet.
