star gazing
by jeremy cannon
Objects of time seem to move so slow,
thinking they're past, but they never grow.
Diamonds and gold, start to sing,
and then the dust covers the beautiful thing.
What is not said is an evil butterfly,
eating your heart linings, making you cry.
What could have stayed as a caterpillar,
would also have been an empty soul with no filler.
But just tough it out, and it will shine on your blues,
And just tough it out, and it will be your answered prayer.
Oh just tough it out, until there's nothing left to do,
If you just tough it out, we'll crumble away in despair.
So as the stars in the sky put a spotlight on you,
and the waves of the oceans reflect all the blue.
Dangling there, in the gracious, wondrous sky,
I see that dead stare, a look in your eye.
I can't begin to explain how confusing life is,
Oh how I'd beg to kiss your soft, soft lips.
But we all live in one disaster, and die in one instant,
so please don't lose me now, let your heart listen.
But just tough it out, and it will shine on your blues,
And just tough it out, and it will be your answered prayer.
Oh just tough it out, until there's nothing left to do,
If you just tough it out, we'll crumble away in despair.
