must be something in the diet coke with lemon
by jeremy cannon

If a star fell from the sky, every time I envisioned your face,
the sky would just be one big blank space.
It was a tear in the ocean that I dropped,
and the day you find it, is when my love for you stops.

The work of a tear is the job that I would pick,
born in your eye, live on your cheek and die on your lips.
Blue birds, violets and oceans are blue,
as well as my heart when I think of not having you.

I grab your hand and draw a line on your palm,
it represents a river, and on one side is a fawn.
Tell me how she will get across the river and back to her land,
I finally confess there was no fawn, all I wanted to do was hold your hand.

If I planted a rose seed for the times I thought of you,
I'd have to buy acres of land just to keep them bloomed.
And I'd pick one of them whenever I realize you're with him,
and within a second, there would not be a single stem.
