i died in a tornado
by jeremy cannon
There once was this night, where everything was a blur,
Sickness was my weakness, smiling at her.
I made my move, and I fell right down,
up, up and away is where I'm bound.
I never felt so torn before, but especially coming from me,
nobody can predict what the weather will be.
Remember that time I died in a tornado?
Remember when everything was spinning.
Because that time I died in a tornado,
was the moment that kept me from winning...
her aching heart.
I try not to lay on the ground anymore,
the dirt will leak in my wounds,
it burns real bad and I'm out of medicine,
and joy has no room.
She still gives me smiles whenever I'm around,
and her lips make up for it,
somehow she's still around, I'm still alone,
and those nasty, nasty winds.
Remember that time I died in a tornado?
Remember when everything was spinning.
Because that time I died in a tornado,
was the moment that kept me from winning...
her aching heart.
I think I'm the only one who feels this natural pain,
I wake up, and I'm the only who remembers a thing.
Everything's all right, it's calm before the storm,
But all of a sudden, her soft hands knuckle up, and there's a knock at the door.
Remember that time I died in a tornado?
Remember when everything was spinning.
Because that time I died in a tornado,
was the moment that kept me from winning...
her aching heart.
But do you remember that time, I survived the tornado?
Pray for me that I will, will not die in that tornado.
