Chained to the road is the heavy maggot,
here comes the grasshopper, ready to attack it.
The flies creep over, they hover the fight,
the bumblebees roll like tumbleweeds in quick flight.
They attack one another and get chopped and stung,
now the fire ants emerge, they soon get sprung.
Cockroaches invade from a nearby hole,
they're being followed by the worms who believe they see gold.
And the wasps and fireflies and beetles swarm in,
but what's unnoticed is the trap the spider spins.
It watches the war as it wages on,
the death and anger as it rages on.
It creates such a web above the tallest tree,
releases the sides to let the sticky trap fall free.
It falls on top of the battlefield, all movement stops,
then the creepy arachnid slowly drops.
It rolls up its trap and readies to feast,
to eat up the small ones first at least.
But deep in the dark lurches a slithering devil,
waiting for its prey to touch the direct level.
As the spider finishes up, with its ball of buffet,
the snake snaps quick, engulfs its prey.
It stands the victor, still a bit hungry,
it turns and says "Look at the meal in front of me."
