Top 15 Sitcoms Of All Time
by Jeremy Cannon

This is my total opinion of the fifteen best sitcoms to ever exist. I decided to not include cartoons, because I don't really see them as being sitcoms. Check out my views, and if you don't agree, you're always free to e-mail me.

15
Small Wonder (1985-1989)
Starring Dick Christie, Marla Pennington, Tiffany Brisette, Edie McClurg, Jerry Supiran & Emily Shulman. It lasted longer than critics thought it would, and for good reasons. This heart-warming show had great comedic moments, and I thought it had great originality behind it.
14
Full House (1987-1995)
Starring Bob Saget, John Stamos, Dave Coulier, Candace Cameron Bure, Andrea Barber, Jodie Sweetin, Lori Loughlin & Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen. When I was younger, this was my favorite show, until I dug out of the "sappy" humor. But I still enjoy this show whenever possible.
13
The Drew Carey Show (1995-2004)
Starring Drew Carey, Ryan Stiles, Diedrich Bader, Craig Ferguson & Kathy Kinney. There are so many elements to this show that make it a great hit. Especially the characters of "Oswald" & "Lewis," and the feud between "Drew" and "Mimi." Plus, it has been known to take a lot of non-comedy risks.
12
Roseanne (1988-1997)
Starring Roseanne Arnold, John Goodman, Laurie Metcalf, Sara Gilbert, Michael Fishman, Lecy Goranson & Sarah Chalke. This show came out in a time where people were tiring of comedies centering around "suburban life." This is classic white trash comedy.
11
The Hogan Family (1988-1991)
Starring Sandy Duncan, Jason Bateman, Jeremy Licht, Luis Daniel Ponce, Josh Taylor & Edie McClurg. After Valerie Harper left Valerie due to money issues, this show changed its name and became a hilarious treat. Too bad it wasn't around long enough, and isn't in reruns.
10
Alf (1986-1990)
Starring Max Wright, Anne Schedeen & Andrew Elson. Such a great gift of creativity and comedy, you cannot help but love this show. And did you know Beverly Archer from Mama's Family was a writer for this show? Plus, Alf had three different people voice for him.
9
Family Matters (1989-1998)
Starring Reginald VelJohnson, Jaleel White, Jo Marie Payton-Noble, Darius McCrary & Kellie Shanygne Williams. "Urkel" probably carried the show, because he had such great interactions with all of the cast. He was also like the teenage black version of "Jack Tripper" with all of his clumsiness.
8
3rd Rock From The Sun (1996-2001)
Starring John Lithgow, Kristen Johnston, French Stewart, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Wayne Knight & Jane Curtin. You'd never think a show with such a silly premise would make it, but people just can't resist the extreme acting ability of Lithgow. Definite humor excellence here.
7
Step By Step (1991-1998)
Starring Patrick Duffy, Suzanne Somers, Staci Keanan, Sasha Mitchell, Brandon Call, Angela Watson, Christine Lakin, Christopher Castile & Bronson Pinchot. It had that Brady Bunch corniness at times, but this show definitely had a lot more laughs. I liked that this show seemed to be in different stages every season.
6
Charles In Charge (1984-1990)
Starring Scott Baio, William Aimes, James T. Callahan, Josie Davis, Nicole Eggert & Alexander Polinsky. The situations "Charles" always got himself in to were hysterical. But I think one of the prime features was the dunce comments that "Buddy" always made. Plus, ever notice Charles never had a last name?
5
Married... With Children (1987-1997)
Starring Ed O'Neill, Katey Segal, Amanda Bearse, David Faustino, Christina Applegate & Ted McGinley. This was definitely one of those comedies that made you appreciate your very own disfunctional family. Definitely the top show ever for one liners and quick jabs.
4
Home Improvement (1991-1999)
Starring Tim Allen, Patricia Richardson, Earl Hindman, Richard Karn & Debba Dunning. I think what made this show so hilarious was the comedic ability of Tim Allen. He is one of the funniest comedians there has ever been, and that definitely helped portray his role here. Plus, the bumbling exploits he creates make it magnificent.
3
Three's Company (1977-1984)
Starring John Ritter, Joyce DeWitt, Suzanne Somers & Don Knotts. Yeah, there were a lot of different people who played the third roommate, and hell, even the landlord changed once. But purely hilarious, with a great way of showing how fun it can be to misunderstand everything. And John Ritter will be missed.
2
Mama's Family (1983-1990)
Starring Vicki Lawrence, Ken Berry, Dorothy Lyman, Beverly Archer & Allan Kayser. Not the most popular sitcom there has ever been, but it was definitely one of my favorites. I think my favorite part was the ability "Mama" had at "going off" on her family. The early episodes with different cast were good, but the newest seasons were top grade.
1
Friends (1994-2004)
Starring Jennifer Aniston, Courtney Cox Arquette, Lisa Kudrow, Matthew Perry, David Schwimmer & Matt LeBlanc. Definitely the funniest comedy of all time. I know that there is not a show that exists that I know during an episode, I will laugh more than 75% of the time. Plus, the storylines drag you into a great state of reality.
