I recently went to a concert at
The Pageant in St. Louis a few months ago. It featured
bands like Systematic, Hed P.E., Breaking Benjamin, Stereomud, and headlining: Saliva.
It was an okay concert. All of these bands have like one song I like except Saliva. But
that's not what I'm talking about. The highlight of the night was all of the free stuff!
I got an awesome Jagermeister thing for my key chain, plus three free CDs. Oh wait, I
listened to the CDs and puked. They handed out this Jagermeister Rarities CD. Oh my God,
if it could suck any worse.
1. "New Faith" by Slayer
This is probably the worst song I have ever heard. It is just pure crap from a band that is,
quite frankly, pure crap!
2. "Suck It Up" by Hed P.E.
Guys, "Bartender" is the kind of stuff you need to be making. Not music where you try to scream
like Satan. It sucks, seriously.
3. "Reminded" by Drowning Pool
When "Bodies" came out, I thought this was a pretty cool band. Yeah, I was diggin' their
jiggy style (?), but then, they started releasing more music. They died out just like their
lead singer. And this track on the Rarities CD just makes them look worse.
4. "Ghosts Along The Mississippi" by Down
I think this sucks so bad I am crying.
5. "Skin" by Breaking Benjamin
I had this song before I saw them in concert. This song is just fucking awesome. The sound of
it, the lyrics, the general feeling I get from this song just yells good times. I have no problem
with this song... except for the fact that it is on this CD. I'd feel ashamed to put such a great
single on a CD chocked full of mind numbing pig shit.

6. "Battle Ready (DJ Higher Mix)" by Otep
Turn it off! Turn it off! The only highlight of this band is the lead singer, Vox. She'd actually
look pretty hot if she lost the tattoos.
7. "Without Moral Restraint" by Chimaira
Crap, crap, and more crap. The beat, the lyrics, the over all feeling I get from this one is bad times! Fuck this shit.
8. "Shine" by Sytematic
When they performed, I was so bored. I was sitting the entire time. Their music sucks, and they
have absolutely no originality at all. Impersonating Tim Narducci, "Hey guys, let's just thrash
and beat on the drums, they'll love us!" They have one catchy line in the chorus of this song,
but the rest of the shitty music totally makes you forget about that. I can't believe Lars
Ulrich signed these idiots.
9. "Bitch" by Dope
"No Chance," "Slipping Away" and "Now Or Never" are good songs by these guys, but this one isn't.
10. "In The Unblind" by Killswitch Engage
I will now quote you the lyrics, "Blah blah blah blah, blaaahh, bleh bleh neehhhh, jalla jalla,
blaahhhh!" I am done.
11. "Spread" by Switched
Oh, they're so sneaky. The lyrics quote something about spreading your legs. Jesus, why didn't they
just put that in the title? Who are they trying to fool? Listen to "Inside" by these guys, not this
nonsense.
12. "Perfect Ending" by Spineshank
Here's a bit of advice to these guys and Systematic: putting one catchy line in the chorus will not
bring in a large audience! Make the rest of your fucking song original, you dicks.
13. "Simple Lies" by Endo
Props to these guys, they actually give meaning to the message that you can be a hard metal band
and not blow! http://www.endomusic.com
14. "Hindsight" by Dry Kill Logic
This song wasn't that bad, it definitely ranks at the top of the better ones on the CD, but it
still wasn't good enough to keep.
15. "Let The Blood Rain" by Wolfpac
I actually really liked this one. It's got kind of an NWA sound to it. Or kind of like Dre meets
Hed P.E.
16. "Purify" by Skinlab
Save me from the gross music, someone...
17. "Mandibles" by E. Town Concrete
Oh my god. Absolute shit. No wonder I've never heard of most of these bands.
18. "Chloroform The One You Love" by Flickerstick
This is a pretty good song. This band has been impressing me as of late, and I don't understand why
this song is on this CD. This is just like a lighter form of hard rock, but awesome. I'm still trying
to find a studio version of it though, because the one on this CD is live, and I hate live versions,
especially when they let the crowd sing. Plus the download I keep getting has pops and weird noises
in it. But they also have a great song called "Beautiful."
The other two CDs I got was demos from Faze 3 and Stereomud. Faze 3 just sucks horribly. They
don't deserve any other rating than that. Stereomud's "Control Freak" was okay, but the other three
blew. "Pain" was the only good song they've made in my opinion.
But to wrap this up, the concert was a little dull, and then the free stuff I got didn't exactly
please me. And the alcohol section of the Pageant is definitely a reason not to go back. Thank you,
and good night.
