Nancy and her husband Tom Horton lost their third son Jack Thomas Horton ( ) from SIDS at six and a half weeks of age. April 27,1999 ~ June 12,1999. Unfortunately during this time they didn't have a local support group for SIDS that they could rely on for support through their grief. As the years went by, their need to reach out to others were just as important as they day of their loss. In memory of Baby Jack, Nancy started an online support group for families and friends who have lost a child from SIDS on May 14,2002. Her husband Tom named the group "M.A.D. A.T. S.I.D.S."; which stands for "Moms And Dads Against The Sudden Infant Death Syndrome". It became Nancy's mission to reach out to other grieving parents & provide support through their grief. Reaching grieving parents throughout the United States; including the United Kingdom and Belgium. Almost two years following the anniversary for the support group, MAD AT SIDS became an organization; proceeding to non-profit. We have hopes to be supported by the United Way and government funding to broaden our services and resources to the public in the near future.
