The Heaviest Car The heaviest car in recent production is the Soviet-built Zil-41047 limousine, which has a 12 ft. 9 in. wheelbase weighing 3.025 tons. A "stretched" Zil, of which only two to three were made annually, was used by former Soviet president Mikhail Gorbachev until December 1991. It weighed 6 tons and used 3-in. armor plated steel for protection in key areas. The eight-cylinder, seven-liter engine guzzled fuel at the rate of 6mpg. |
