The Dudleys
Copyright 2000, Michelle Iacona, a short satire of Robert and Guilford Dudley (Tudor and Elizabethan Period England)
"Two there were, and fair of face,
Like sparrows in unconquered grace.
The one for a lady lost his head,
The other sought a loftier bed.
Like cast-off toys, they mourned themselves,
All dusty on their pretty shelves.
What pretty fools these poor boys be--
All lovely looks and mental scarcity!"
