page 1 2 Elizabeth Corday: - Do I need a man to look well?- Liz to her mother - I hope you end up with a possibly fatal illness one day, Kerry, so I can do absolutely nothing to help you! - I will get to that church if I have to ride on your back like a bloody donkey! - This is America, and sometimes in this country, you have to kick ass! - There are little things scurrying in the wall, and your toilet actually ROCKS. - Shirley, could you please crawl between my legs and insert a Foley? Alex Kingston: - I'd say it's Rocket Romano, Paul McCrane. Well, I can't say anyone else because then they'll all get jealous. - Alex on who her cutest co-star is - I'd be Saucy Spice. - Alex, on which Spice Girl she would be - We just decided to buy the certificate and get married.- Alex on her marriage to Florian Haertel - Those glasses, that hair . . . . He looks almost English and willowy.- Alex on Anthony Edwards - They never indicate when they're changing lanes. It drives me mad. I'd yell out the window, but I'm afraid I'd be shot.- Alex on LA drivers - Once I got settled here, I was able to d ay, 'OK, I'm here now, I'm safe, I have a car, and it's going to be OK.- Alex on moving to LA - We are no different from anybody else in this world and yet the media chooses to exploit us and exploit the public into thinking that just because you're on television you're somebody who's on a higher pedestal than everyone else. It's rubbish.- Alex on the drawbacks of being famous - There are shows where the women are over-styled, and I just feel that "ER" keeps us looking normal and messy.- Alex on what helps keep her down to earth - For example, now that one is, in a sense, a public figure, a lot of fans will just take pictures or just come up to you and just take a picture without asking or being sensitive to the fact that we might be filming or having a private moment.- Alex on when she gets camera shy - I knew she was an English surgeon. They pretty much knew her name immediately and that was it. But, I was really lucky because they introduced the character fairly slowly and so it gave me time to play around a bit and discover different parts that I might want to take. - Alex on taking the role of Dr.Corday - I have an unfair advantage, having an English accent and being from another country, it instantly sets myself and my character apart. Much like Goran, people are drawn to him, and I don't mean to disrespect his acting ability, but it's the same for him as it was for me. A lot of people in the audience find him more exotic than the American characters.- Alex on being different - That's a fun relationship to play. Paul and I do have marvelous chemistry. I don't know what it is. We just click. I'm so impressed that he's able to make Romano a character people love to hate, rather than a character they simply hate. And because Paul himself is such a nice man, some of his own warmth shines through, even though he could be saying the worst imaginable things. -Alex on Paul McCrane - A few years ago journalists asked me, 'Could you do this as a profession?' I said, 'Yeah, sure!' Now, in my third year, I know I couldn't hack it. I'd get too emotionally involved. We're just playacting and it's intense. How do the real doctors and nurses survive it?- Alex on doctors ER Cast on Alex: - I've been acting for fifteen years and I just have a hoot with her. - Eriq La Salle on Alex - Alex is sort of going through a metamorphosis - she's an extremely dynamic woman, but at times you can tell that she was once much more inhibited - Eriq La Salle on Alex MORE TO COME... |
