This is a common view held by many politicians , police officers and the general public .  This is true in some cases.  I have known people who have had minor accidents and have never driven the same again whereas others never change.  In theory the more serious the injury the greater the reduction in speed should occur.  There is one person out there that has suffered a catalogue of injuries which are listed below and they still do not slow down.
 
 

• 184 stitches , (beating Ross and his score of 160)
• Broken toe.
• Two broken ankles , left one broken four times.
• Broken leg.
• Damaged knee cap and ligaments.
• Stitches in both legs.
• Damaged hip joint.
• Damaged kidneys , spine.
• Cuts to back and chest needing stitches.
• 6 broken fingers.
• 2 broken bones in hand.
• 2 broken arms.
• 1 broken wrist.
• Arm sliced and diced down to the bone.
• Dislocated shoulder on 3 separate occasions.
• Compacted spine.
• Whiplash x4.
• Slight brain damage.
• Damaged lungs.
• Damage to my spine.
• Two stitches in left leg , I still dont know how I got those.

You would think that someone who had suffered this many injuries would slow down and maybe even give up driving for good , but then again this person has not .  They keep getting faster and faster .  Looks like the politician , the police and the general public may just be wrong.
