SO WHERE DID MY MONEY GO NYNEX? oh it's NOW Bell-Scamlantic!
In September 1996, I paid my phone bill for approximately $90. The bill was then up-to date paid in full. I decided since I was going out of town for work, to pre-pay it for that amount again, so I wouldn't have to worry about it for a while. THAT WAS A BIG BIG MISTAKE!
The normal NoNex bills arrived, and indicated a credit for the $90 I prepaid. As it turned out, the out-of town job didn't materialize, so I got to see the bills on a monthly basis. The credit was being used up in a normal monthly manner as I would expect....
Then one day I get a letter from Nonex saying that I owed them an extra $90 on my bill, and in their usual threatening manner demanded I pay up. Well, not being a person who is ill at ease with raising some serious crap with these thieves, I made the usual complaints with the usual people at their lip-service department.
They said they would have to check with their mafia-supermarket whom had taken the payment.
I was beginning to smell trouble!!
After several months of procrastinating, the mob-supermarket TOPS sent me a letter denying they ever got the second payment.
Well, I made it, and I had the confirmation that NyNex had it, because they showed a credit on my account for that amount.
Not even the mafia holds out money on the phone company, they have too much riding on bookmaking and other "businesses", hell if the phone company shut them off, they'd have to use cellular phones, and everyone could hear them making bets...but thats another story..
They claimed "I" had to prove that "THEY" didn't steal the money, which someone, somewhere along the pipe put in THEIR pocket!!!
Now It's pretty easy to figure out where the money went, some piss-ant clerk in the mafia supermarket or some manager-flunky knew the trouble I'd have getting it back when they pocketed it, and chalked it up to a double billing.

DEALING with the NEW YORK PUBLIC SERVICE COMISSION!
The NY PUBLIC SERVICE COMMISSION DOES NOT EXIST! PERIOD! or at least it doesn't for the residents of NY...
There is NO ONE in Albany, who is working for the consumer. All the apointees to the PSC are either dead, no-shows or living in Vegas and golfing on taxpayer expense. There is only ONE live human being at the PSC, and that person is a ex-welfare bum who can't speak english. SURE they have phone lines, but all those are all hooked to electronic voice mail machines that are improperly programmed or that are useless to anyone trying to find a person to help them.
We as consumers, envision people standing over the voicemail machine, coffee in hand, saying things like, "watch this guy get frustrated and hang up" and laugh at our problems. This agency gives you that distinct impression.
IF, after weeks of trying, you accidently get through to a live human being, who will take the time to pick up their phone, what the hell do they DO? They make you talk to the same drones at the phone company, the power company or the gas company who got you pissed off in the first place and convinced you to call the PSC to file a complaint.
Speaking of complaints, the PSC doesn't take them anymore. They connect you with a Utility Company "ombudsman" who is part of the chain of interference designed to keep the number of complaints filed to zero.
"We cant have all them damm citizens having any say in the monopoly revolving door PSC/Utility company food chain, now can we?"
SO here I am, out $90 of my hard earned money, while utility company people run interference for mafia supermarket petty thieves, and we have a no-show complaint bureau watching over things in the state capitol.
Well, what are my options? File criminal charges against the phone company or the mob supermarket, and actually think theres anything even remotely close to "justice" in our court system? Im sure I could cost them more than $90 in legal fees and shyster time.
Nahhh...
