- From The Beginning -

As we know, every band has its own story. So does Westlife. Right now, I'm gonna tell you their first step from the beginning...

Shane Filan, Kian Egan and Mark Feehily have been friend since they got into a musical. It was Grease. Shane was Danny, Kian was Kenickie (am I right?), and Mark was Vince Vontaine (I don't believe on my hearing, do you?). After the play, they hang around for a while. Then someone (I don't know who is that 'someone') says they should take it a li'l bit further, as Kian says.

They got into the studio with the other lads, Michael, Graham and Derrick. They, then, called themselves IOYou. They make a singel called 'Together Girl Forever' (Mark and Shane wrote it) with the b-side song 'Everlasting Love'. First, they only make it into local TV channels. Then, Shane's mum called Louis Walsh. Yes, Boyzone's manager. Louis Walsh saw them and put them on tour with Boyzone and Backstreet Boys. Wanna see the IOYou? Here they are...

Mark's on the far left side, Kian's 3rd from the left and Shane's on the far right side. Am I right?
BTW, I don't know who owns this pic. So, if you know, tell me.

Unfortunately, Louis Walsh was too busy with Boyzone. Then, Shane, Kian and Mark dropped the other 3 lads for improving the band. An audition was held. VOILA!!! Come Nicky and Bryan. Nicky and Bryan are friend, incidentally. They changed the name IOYou to Westside. Why? Because:
1. They come from Ireland, one of the West Europe countries.
2. Kian, Mark and Shane come from Sligo, the west side of Ireland.
So, for simple, they love west! No, just joking. Also, they got Ronan Keating from Boyzone to co-manage them. Anyway, here's the Westside picture...

After they changed it, they were touring with Boyzone. Buuut..., they changed their name again. No, they didn't dropped anyone in the band. There's a group in USA with the same name, sooo... they've gotta change their name. They changed Westside to Westlife. No, they didn't change it again. It's the last one.   : )

Hmmm... what else? 'Kay! They recorded a new song called 'Swear It Again' with the b-side 'Forever', a cover song from Damage. It went it out with a BLAST!!! In a couple of weeks, they got number 1 in UK and Irish chart. They also got into Smash Hits tour and won the Best Breakthrough/New Artist (am I right?). It's only the beginning, pal, it's only the beginning. The rest, you'll know it yourself. : ) Well, wanna see their latest face? Here...

Now, I'm asking you. Who is who? ; )
